Yesterday when driving home from work. I noticed a man lying in the parking lot next to a car with cloths and cloths basket beside him. He was yelling "HELP ME HELP ME Call 911." I'm an EMT so I had to help. His (Girl friend/Wife?) jumped out of the car and comes over to him and yells "I'm going to kill you." I stayed in the car and told her that if she didn't leave that I was going to call 911. She got mad and got back into her car. She then started the car and backed up, the man jumped up and ran be hide some large trash dumpsters. She went forwards then backwards running over his cloths. During all this I was calling 911. The Police arrived shortly. I got out of my car and went to see what I could do for him. The Rescue unit arrived. I thought some of you might get a kick out of this, I sure did. I was wondering if my wife could ever get that mad were she would want to run me over for dragging a tractor home. I didn't use any names or places so I think I'm okay with HIPAA.

I find a lot of drills on Firehouse.com. Not all EMS / mass casualty related, but usually a good starting point.

Link

I've always found it best to get as many organizations to drill together as possible (fire, police, ambulance, public works, schools, civilians, etc, etc) That way, when the big one hits, you should be better prepared for it.

Lately the most effective training that we have been doing is live mock rescue calls. It gives a chances for everyone to be incedent command and those how never taken lead a chance to step up. Luckly our chief is good friends with Nebraska Emergency Management. We are like there genuie pig. Which is good for a small town of a 1000. We are only twenty min. away from Lincoln Ne. so we are better off then some others.

Simulation include.

Plane crash into school. (NEMA helped)
Car Rollover in ditch with mass victims 3
Swiming pool (I was the one that had to jump in)
Star Care 5 which is our air ambulance

One other thing that has really helped is we have installed a new radio system. Our pagers have been upgrade and you are able to hear the traffic during the call. This allows us to get a better feeling of whatever body just about in the county is doing.

Good luck.

Steve

A woman can be as mean as any man, and they control 99% of the money and 100% of the good stuff! Don't pay to make um mad!

I guess the old saying about "it'll all come out in the wash" does apply. In this case, it didn't come out in the wash, but it still applies. Not sure what I think about you dragging old tractors home, I mean lipstick on your shorts is one thing, but motor oil?
