Has anyone else posted in the Marketplace here, only to be overwhelmed with responses from scammers who can't write or spell and generally have a loose grasp of the English language? Is there any solution other than ignoring them?

Tom: Delete button is quite quick. I believe like Cowman these guys soon give up. In 6 years since getting a computer I've really never had a problem with this. I have 3 recomendations on computer use; stay away from seedy sites, never use a credit card on line that has more than $1,000. limit and never use on line banking with an account having more than $1,000. balance. I maybe should qualify that $1,000. figure for both credit card and bank card, and say rather than $1,000. an amount of money you can afford to loose. Some folks may consider that to be $0.00 while others $100,000 ??? who knows?

Experts will tell you the credit cards and on line banking are secure. They haven't satisfied this old bird yet, make note they still give warnings on fraudlent use of cards. Two things in life you should never do is let the general public know how much money or credit you have.

Mark: My experience, politicians are the best organized criminals, followed by bankers then the mafia.

Hugh,

I have a different standard.
Order of importance:

1. Personal info about my wife.

2. Fish in my pond. Grin. Amazing what people will do to get at fish.

Couple of things about on line fraud:

1 Most security systems have really large encryption devices so if you are going to be targeted, it will probably be a conspiracy involving many people and computers which means you must have a bank roll big enough to go after.

My financial institutions are aware of crooks and have ways to get your money back into your account as long as fraud (theft) is involved.....including the eloquent term phishing.

Later,

Mark

You can't stop them, but there's a few guys (with too much time on their hands, apparently) who like to make the scammers' lives miserable.

Check out the site below, it's good for a laugh.

The poor grasp of the English language comes from their computer system translating from their language to our version of English. Many words have a similar meaning but fit better than others in certain situations amd their system can not tell the difference.

How do you think it is possible to "catch" someone in a foreign country? (If, in fact they actually ARE in a foreign country.)

I just keep the "DELETE" button warmed up and ready to go!

If you go to the search box, and type in "scam", you'll see the HUNDREDS of previous posts on this.

Ignoring them works for me!
