Have a pair of 15.5x38"s that have good tread but the sides are cracked pretty bad. When they leak down the cracks are 3/8" deep or so. How thin is too thin/craked to bother remounting? What guideline does the tire place used? Thanks

You can drive them until the air inside begins to show. I've heard of blowing the tire up tight to it's max suggested pressure. Then filling in the cracks with some black coloured cold curing wonder glop. Deflate to regular running pressure when the glop has cured.

When you see the tube sticking out, you will be at the far end of the field. And you will have to buy a new tire anyway.

If they were mine, they wouldn't be going back on. I hate changing them, and I hate paying to change them. Now, if you don't mind the changing part, you wouldn't be out much to put them on and see how far they go. A tire shop probably wouldn't put them on, as there's a good chance that the customer will be back in a week, and questioning why they charged X to mount a rotten old tire. How adventerous are ya feelin'?

Like those guys said ;when they fail. Its a tractor not a motorcycle no danger of a high speed blow out why fix something that aint broke. Now the guidline of the tire place goes by the wallet of the owner not the actual tires themselves.

Tims right, I have used tires like that for years and at other times didn't get to use them a week, you never know but at $200-400 each I use them till they will not hold the tube in

I had a tube sticking out the side, and it would have gone a long ways yet if I hadn't scraped the tube on the side of a tree. CC everywhere. My soon to be x wife got the stuff all over her
