How do you remove the smoke smell from the inside of a truck cab. I've been looking at some used trucks and if the previous driver was a smoker they really stink inside.

I have tried car newet it is a spray gives vehicle new car smell but I have now used first a good smoke and cleaner that is used on glass doors of wood burning stoves works always first use this before washing with water water takes smell stains deeper then after using dry shampoo rug cleaner then light soap tide water dont soak let dry if you have water vacumm cleaner like rainbow vac next, then I spray with car renewal. gets rid of smell even after rainy days. also do the dash vents and pull defrost tubes loose clean out time has to be spent but well worth it plus gets rid of grit germs and somebody elses odor.
Some may pick but oh well when you get in my corvette or elcamino, you will only smell me tuff some times I have to roll the windows down also.

Don't buy it, and don't whine about what someone else does.

Just sprinkle some diesel around, you won't notice the smoke smell anymore.

My dad bought a "smoker" car years ago - we couldn"t ever get rid of the smell. It had permiated the carpering, headliner, upholstery, everything. I"ll never buy a car from a previous owner that smoked. Talk to a used car dealer, see what they use to get the cars cleaned up for resale.

buy a bag of apples and cut them in half and place under the seats. they will absorb the odors. might take a few days. don't forget to remove the apples or you might have a different odor.

Try using white vinegar. soak paper towel folded 4 times in a cheap plastic container, place under seat(s), in hot weather, close windows and let bake as long as possible, will need to ventilate before driving, vinegar smell will leave quickly and take offending odor with it. Check on small out of site place first, then if ok, wipe down all non-fabric surfaces with vinegar, you can also mix 50/50 with water and spray on fabrics, after checking small hidden area first. I ran over a skunk with my nearly new 1/2 ton GMC last summer and this got the stink out after 2-3 treatments.

About the only things that have worked for me has been to carefully wash down all surfaces inside the vehicle with hot, soapy water and then rinsing as well as possible. I try to run with a window open most of the time, with air moving through the heater or air conditioning system, so I am breathing mostly outside air. Then I leave the windows open a couple of inches whenever I park. This usually will work and the inside air will be reasonably good after a couple of months time. There are products that kind of mask the odor, but to me it is covering a stink with another stink.

I have not bought a couple of rigs because they smelled so bad inside. Their previous owners must have no sense of smell at all to get them the way they were. Different strokes for different folks..... Good luck!

Put a skunk in the cab for a couple hours. I had a Ford Aero Star van that a smoker owned, never could get the smell out.On damp days it would come back Stan

Smoke does hang in there.... I quit 3 months ago, & although I never did smoke in my new one (2001), It has a smoke smell, I guess from my clothes... the old 92 one still has a strong smell, but it is getting better, I leave windows cranked down when I can..... A product called Odo-Ban from Sam's does seem to help.....

My brother carries a couple good size chunks of coal under his seats. Supposed to help absorb moisture. As moisture has a lot to do with what we smell, it may help. Cheap enough to try, anyway.

Wash down all that you can and then use a product
like "Odors Away".

Many people believe that FeBreeze will remove unwanted odors but I've not tried it.

Odors Away is sometimes used on upholstered chairs used by folks that have lost proper control of their bladders and have accidents.

A detail shop might have a better solution. Could be worth a $100 or so.

GM dealers used to sell a spray to use in ductwork, that is where most of the smell comes from....

Ozium. Wal Mart sells it in the automotive section with the car fresheners.

You can try Febreeze spray. Works good on fabric, but not so good in vinyl. Old police trick is to pour coffee grounds into an electric skillet and cook until they burn. The resulting smell will cover the stench of a putrefying body that has been above ground too long. Should work for cigar smoke.
