I'm finding it very difficult to locate the paint color (PPG) for my 1959 Ford 961 Powermaster. The local paint houses list three colors (all reds) but none seem correct. Does anyone out there have the ACTUAL color I need. Was hoping to start painting this week. Thanks

When i have to refinish something in the automotive or tractor line, and need it to match the original color, i take a small painted part to the auto paint experts in our area, to have them match it! This place has a computerized machine that will copy the color and make up a formula of the paint, then turn on the paint mixing machine, stir the paint colors well, and then mix up as much paint as you will need! Sound far-fetched? I thought so, too! but, on my van, i had to spot in a color which wasn't a factory color, just several blues and some white from old stock, that i had stirred together, to get the color my wife wanted on the bottom section of the van! Did their mix match? Yep, it did, perfectly! And, did the other color match the factory "Ice Blue"? Yep, perfectly. Chrysler Ice Blue,in 1988, from the factory, had about 17-20 variations of that color, and that machine made a match! I had worked for a Chrysler dealer at the time is how i know about it, and i had to get the correct tinted color to make a match! so, go check where auto body shops get their paint colors mixed. They'll mix up your color! by: rustyj
