OT A dream come true (pole barn pics)

Since I can remember I always wanted a decent barn. Its a 50 x 80 x 16 tall. I have read alot about pole barns here and used and will be using advice found here as I finish it. It will have 4 different sections inside of it including shop, and storage for tractors.

That's a fine-looking building. I finished my own post frame building last year. (Mine is much smaller: 30 x 40 x 10.) It's great to have a decent shop after years of doing without.

Filling it will not be the problem. Finding room for everything will be. You cannot build a polebarn big enuff! (Beautiful building, wish I had the task of filling it!)

real nice building hope to have a better one myself someday i work in a open front tool shed 2 bays just got electric to it about 3 yrs ago family built it probably mid 60s we do what we can when we can - enjoy- you have been blessed

Great looking barn. It may be a bit small, though (lol). I particularly like the cupiloes on the roof. Very nice touch. Oh, btw, won't be able to make the tractor races this year. Going to make the Penfield show the long-distance show for the year. Maybe next year. (still might be interested in the Love.)

I would put some X-bracing between each truss and a 2"x6/8"x2' block under the end of each truss. I would bolt or lag screw them to your up right poles. It appears that they are just nailed/bolted to the side of the up rights and not setting on anything. I would put angle braces at the corners of each wall. Some may not be necessary since the poles are in the ground, just the way I would do it.

Ditto on the x - bracing it will really tie your building together . What a beautiful building . You did'nt show how you got all those trusses up there .That is a big job . Or did I miss that pic ?Thanks for posting all the pic's Shows a guy all you went thru . Have fun filling it up

I can see only one thing wrong with that great looking hew barn of yours that is it is built at your place and not mine use it well. I hope you can find the fiance to heat the floor it is the greatest way to heat a shop just think you only plan on doing this once so we should do it right the first time ..... ....

Thanks guys for the nice comments. I have stretched out my funds to pay for this building. I hope to put a concrete floor in it and heat the shop area when funds are available. I doubt that I can afford the in concrete heat that a lot of people are going with.

The in floor heat isn't too expensive. If you shop around, you can get 1/2" pex tubing for the floor at about 0.35$ a foot in Canada, the US it should be about 0.25$. Each foot does a square foot of slab. Lots of info on the net for laying it out.

Don't have to heat it from the start, can add that later.

Very nice. Great thing about them, can always move an end wall down to grow the length if (when) need to. Looks nice.
