Thanks for all of the great info on my last post regarding the inherited tractor of mine... I think I will take the "getting it running" option. Get it running, clean it up, but keep the "dings and dents" for stories and such. My next question then is I've never worked with wood spoked wheel's before. Is there a company out there that can refurbish them?

The Whippet is the Lake Wobegon team mascot. About 30 years ago a guy used to drive his Whippet to car shows "in character". He had sacks of feed, cans of milk, and crates of chickens, etc. tied onto the fenders, running boards and rear shelf. Looked like 1930's farmers' market.

Leon is right, it won't look right if the wheels are re-done. There are lots of Overland and Whippet wheels that are still in good shape if you need to replace one or two. I have a 1915 Overland myself, and I know where the Overland and Whippet parts are stashed. I get a news letter every month with Overland, Whippet, and Willys Knight parts for sale. I just looked at the letter, there are six wire spoke Whippet wheels for sale, but no wood. next month there may be ten wood spoke for sale... Adam, Check out this site. Link

Not sure where you said you were from, but if you have an Amish community nearby I bet they could point you in the right direction.

Good Luck,

Kirk

Adam, I have been playing with restoring vintage cars and tractors for almost 40 years. If your plan is to retain that homebuild tractor in all its worn and tattered glory I would leave those wheels alone if they are tight. From the looks of that picture it looks like they are just weathered. If you restore them they will look out of place compared to the rest of the unit. I would give it a good cleaning and get it running without "restoring" any of it.
