Sure, What the Heck

So, since I'm so darned picky anyway, I figure what the heck, I'm gonna go ahead and replace all of the disc opener bearings on this tired old grain drill.

Groan! They are all riveted in with 6 rivets apiece and I've been grinding and bolting, grinding and bolting. Geeze, am I ever gonna find the end?

I wanna plant on the 15th of August; sure hope I'm done by then :>(

You might have hit on a problem tho.

I went into the bank this morning to make a deposit, trying to put a stop to that big, empty, hollow sound I hear every time I write a check.

As I walked thru the door, I'm sure I heard the three tellers, in unison, let out a distinctly audible moan.

Every time I go in there, seems like they all wanna go on coffee break at the same time and they hurriedly draw straws to see who has to wait on me. :>(

The good thing is, is that you can probably tell that the old girl really hasn't seen that much work, odds are that they are the original ones.

I fiddled around and fixed everything else that I could find wrong with the old thing.

One bearing was really loose and after I got to digging around in there I find that the grease zerks don't actually do a thing. They just dead-end because the bearings are sealed anyway.

So, I sez, better put 'em all in. Whew! What a bunch of grinding to get those rivets yanked outta there! :>)

Could be. The John Dealer wanted to know if they were iron bearings or the sealed bearing type.

That's when he told me that the bearings would be $17.60 a pop. Same bearing from Car Quest came to $6.38 and were made in the states instead of Japan. :>)
