Need to pick all the experts brains. I was pulling trailer with my 1995 Ford F350 automatic 4X4 Lost all forward gears in auto, still have reverse But no forward movement. all I had on my trailer was a Chev 2500 with burned up wiring. Oh was also pulling a fairly good grade, running 50 was doing great, then all of sudden lost forward motion. Checked trans fluid, good, Put in 4wheel drive still nothing. all drive lines are still intact. Trans was so hot I could not put hand on pan... Also had disingaged the overdrive before starting up the grade. Any and all info would greatly appreciated.....Thanks Keith

Ya took the ft. clutch pack out as this drive all foward gears , time to R&R and beef it up it probably only has 4 disc and 4 plate and a bellville washer for that smoothe shift feel that all then yuppy's have to have in there trucks and it lets it slide into gear instead of a ferm shift that you can feel . I have removed these and been able to add and extra clutch and plate and this also ferms up the shift .

And how hard is this process to do, I have worked on a few of these things in my life time,. Just not any of the new fangled ones. Guess I will have to get out all my manuals. Last time I looked the newest one I have us 1990, so will have to invest in a later model manual. Any special one that you recomend. Finually got all rigs home. Towed the Ford home with my 1990 Chev K2500, then went back and got the trailer with the burnt Chev K2500 on it. Had no problems pulling trailer with the Chev, great truck over 200K miles on it. Thanks...Keith

Keith, I agree you probably burnt up the forward clutch pack. Tractor Vet has some good ideas. We remove the cushion spring all the time. I don"t know what your situation is but the E4OD is not the easiest critter to work on. Not saying it"s impossible, just pay alot of attention to detail, and definately get all the tech info you can on it. If you have a good tranny shop in the area talk to them. They may have access to some of the aftermarket stuff like delayed lockup solenoid packs, forged cover converters, and such that make alot of difference when rebuiding that tranny. Good luck Brokenwrench
