I know its not a tractor but bear with me on this one since you guys are spread out across the country. On or about June 25th someone drove onto our property in Gautier MS and removed my 1969 Z28 Camaro. The car had been sitting awhile and had already had the tires and rally wheels stolen and we were in the process of getting a set of used rims to mount on the car and carry it to our barn in the panhandle of Florida. Not knowing what the thieves will do with it (cut it up for parts or try to restore it and retitle it), I thought it wouldn't hurt to spread the word. I was planning to give this to my son who spends alot of time with me working with antique tractors so needless to say we are both pretty upset about the situation. For a brief description, here's what I can tell you:

Paint color: Aqua/teal blue with black racing stripes and red 1/4" trim stipes on the outside of the large black ones. Lots of body rust from sitting in the south. Original 302 V8 with 4-speed Muncie and 12 bolt posi rear end. Carb was remove prior to theft. Black interior and this vehicle also had the Rally Sport options--gauge cluster on the console, concealed headlights and rally sport emblems (as well as Z28 emblems) and also the factory 140 MPH speedometer. Front brakes are disc, rear are drum. Original factory color for this vehicle was Daytona yellow so there will be yellow paint showing where the last coat has bled away. I assume whoever took it won't try to sell it locally so just maybe one of you fellows might see or hear something where you live--especially in the southeast--say Texas to to the Carolinas. We will pay a $500 reward for anyone that provides information that leads to the car's recovery.

Thanks for you time.

REALLY cheesy, dam thieves!! Could you provide a "partial" VIN in case it "appears"? Also, I "think" some of the restoration websites have a -stolen- section to list on. Hope it turns up!

The first part of the vin you provided just identifies it as a Camaro built at the Norwood Ohio plant,the #s after that would be the identifing vin #.

Sorry to hear of your theft... Think it was a local job ??? Most thefts like that are done by someone that has been there.... Last week, a guy stopped by looking for scrap metal at our shop... We told him we did not have any, several days later, some items we had stored under the roof at the loading dock disappeared.....Mighty coincidental.....

Davis,

About three or four weeks ago a fellow stopped by the house while we were doing some cleanup out front (this is a rental house, vacant at this time) and wanted to buy it for $500. I told him it wasn't for sale. He wasn't too happy about my answer. He also said he had a rollback truck--he's my prime suspect....like you said--quite a coincidence....

Hello Kevin;
I think this is much more than a coincidence. Sounds like a very good prime suspect to me.

He would be my only suspect.

Hope you guys are safe over there. We have been hauling gas all the way from N.O. La. to Mobile trying to keep up with the crowds evacuating.

Stay safe
John
