Okay guys, I was on here earlier in June. I split the tractor, had the tranmission pump rebuilt. I cleaned the pickup screen, changed the transmission filter. I put her back together and everything worked great. I went and mowed hay this afternoon. I finished mowing, stopped at the gate, put her in park. Dismounted the tractor to do something. I got back on, put the tractor in gear, it tried to move, I mean the engine was acting like it was under a load. I messed and did several things no result. I even shut it off, pulled the transmission disconnect back and released it. Same result, I am about ready to fix whats wrong with it and get something else! Its the only tractor I have to bale hay with. Need some pointers too besides the park paul sping being broke, or failing to operate correctly. Thanks for the info on the other problem with the tractor. Dennis

It sounds like you have a shift valve or another spool hung with a piece of debris. You may be getting one clutch engaged but not the other. Most gears need a clutch and/or a planatary brake engaged to allow power to flow through the transmission. There are 4 shift valves along with a pressure regulating valve. You will need a tech manual and some gauges to troubleshoot.

Sure sounds like your shift valve is allowing oil flow in two places at once. Could be a broken or weak plunger spring, or a scored shift piston that only acts up when oil is hot and thinned out.

Mine was stuck in forward and reverse for a little while. What happend is last winter I rebuilt the shift linkage, new bushings, built up the worn linkage. I also rebuilt the control module on the side of the trans with new springs and o'rings. In the process it looked like I puckerd one of the metal gasket/shim pieces around a bolt hole allowing fluid to leak around it. Mine would go forward a little ways then stall out. New metal gasket/shims (what ever they are called) fixed mine.

btw is the hyd remotes stuck on? good luck

Mine does this all the time if I"m on a slight incline, not sure if it"s supposed to though. I just have to put it in reverse(it can be kind of tough) and then back in a forward gear and that does the trick. Like I said, I"m not sure if that"s normal or not, but nobody in my area has much experience with them.
