Has anyone converted an LP tractor to an external fuel take, similar to forklifts ? Seems to me it might be simplier to use than refueling an internal tank.

Bill-I carry 2-- 25 lb bottles in a grill rack on an IH 400. It works well, but then I am not farming heavy with it.

Yes that is what I was thinking of. Do see alot of them for sale and for a low use machine refueling from a large tank seems to be alot of work.

I would think it will limit your run time unless it is an auxillary tank. You could always mount a 500lb one on a trailer and pull it around to refuel with or just hook it inline ?

Yup, "53 Super H ran gas or propane early on, propane only last 25 years or so. Homemade rack out front with a 100 lb cylinder in it. Liquid side discontinued long ago. I guess the down side is the extra length when operating in tight quarters. Or the time Dad caught a limb on the liquid line and tore it out of the valve while disking the orchard. Tractor died almost immediately, I thought we were soon to follow. Dad bailed off amidst a huge cloud of raw propane. It didn"t catch fire, so Dad calmly walked over and shut the valve. Just another day on a dirt farm.

I have a rack on the front that mounts a 100 lb bottle if I need extended run time.
