I've been looking for some info on this puppy so I can work on it with some semblance of confidence when it arrives today. Ain't found much so far. Anybody know where I can get some specs and info on this Truck? It's a 1968 Ford F600 with I believe a 330 ci motor. The family is ready to attack it as soon as it arrives. The chillens will do the cleaning and the wife has visions of bodywork. I just wanna see it make smoke :-)

Funny how reading post like this can bring back some old memories.

Dad had a 68-70 Ford 600 with a 330.
Dang thing had vacuum wipers.
I can remember every time you stepped on the gas the wipers would quit for a second or two.

I would agree with the others and say the brake parts are going to be the hardest thing to find because of the age.

John,

I had a wife one time who dumped me, but I never got to the point of calling her a truck.

Ooooops! Wrong story, wrong thread. :>)

Easily mistaken bigun. Wife who dumped me- Dump the wife bought. Got me confused, and I"ve been following him since she bought it. We"ll work on it, maybe we"ll get it figured out. You got any venison stew yet? Harley

The biggest problem I see you haveing will be the brake system. Had a 1969 and the booster which is under the cab on the driver side was almost impossible to find.

That motor should just be a variation of the old FE series motors,352 360 390 and 428"s all fall in this group..engine parts should be no problem to get..we took the distributor housing and swapped parts into it from a 302 with the electronic ignition, made a slick little electronic set up for very little cash..electronic dist. for FE"s are hard to find..
Good luck with it..they are good trucks,

Tim

Actually this will be a FT engine, the truck version of Ford's FE line. The 330, 361, and the 391 are the most common, but there are some other odd balls out there (358?). Parts are fairly easy to find (NAPA) once you figure out which one you have. The two speed and brakes are an issue - more due to age then any inherant design flaw.

be careful of the 2 speed. I was driving my friend's 1954 ford dump truck and had the da%* shifter motor take a crap. The brakes were the old ones on the driveshaft, so I was going down a big hill, with the two speed in neutral and because the brakes were on the drive shaft, I had no brakes!!! Almost 90 miles an hour in a truck that old with no power steering is really scary. I built a "jigger" to fit inside the access cover of the two speed to lock it into one range at a time. Shifter motor no longer works, but at least you know you have brakes~~!!!

Your brakes were on the driveshaft? Your parking brake would be, but my '50 Ford has drum brakes on all 4 corners. Your parking brake wouldn't have helped you much anyway.

BTW, brake parts, including drums, master and wheel cylinders, shoes and hoses for my '50 Ford F-6 were all available from Joblot Automotive, of Queens, NY.
