My tractor is being taken over

So as of this moment I have a pretty nice looking piece of yard art. It looks amazingly like my 1944 Allis C. It seems that some bumblebees decided that the left brake inspection holes would be a mighty fine place to set up shop. I started the tractor up today (thank god I used the crank rather than sitting in the seat) and I bet 30 or more poured out of that area looking to see who disturbed their slumber. I tried aerosol on them (2 cans worth) but it didn't seem to faze them too much. If anyone has any ideas on what I can do to reclaim my tractor I would greatly appreiciate it. Btw, the brakes need replaced anyway so no worries about damaging the bands.

My dad used to put a little powered pesticide (like Sevin) inside his shop vac and rig the nozzle just below the point of entry. He'd turn it on toward evening and let that baby run until after dark. I don't think he'd open it until the next morning tho. He'd repeat as necessary until the nest was gone. Worked great. You could watch the bees returning home for the night get sucked into the hose.

Bees come to the nest to rest at night. Messing around with them during daylight hours is not wise. About an hour after dark, spray with carb or brake cleaner as already suggested. Forget about using fire around your tractor.

I have a similar problem, My Skid-steer is home to some wasps inside the cage... I cranked it the other day, & a swarm came out of a hole & came straight at my face.. I scrambled to get out, I was very lucky, only got one sting on my hand...

Ryan - Have you checked with your local township officials on this? There may be nothing you can do. If the bees can show that they pay more taxes by turning your tractor into a condominium then current law pretty much says it's theirs. I hate to be the bearer of bad news...

It's always nice to see that tractor board posters pay attention to impotent (!) Supreme Court decisions!

Ah yes....it was the talk of the boards when I left to make hay a few weeks back. Seems to have lost it's momentum though...

An oily rag wrapped around the end of a long stick . Light it & once it gets burning just hold it to there newly founded home . You're going to replace those brakes anyhow . Then be sure to use a rubber brake adjustment hole plug next time . You definitely wanta do this at nite & do it quickly . Wear long sleeves & your sandblasting hood for protection . The smoke & flames do wonders on those buggers .You don't have to wait for them to take anything back with them because they don't go back . Good luck . Post how you make out .

When I worked at the scrap yard we would also burn them out. A carburized flame aimed at them and their wings would melt off faster then they could fly up and sting me.
Of course at the yard using the torches all the time I was equiped to deal with fire if it ever broke out. (extinguisher. siren for more help. water)
Good luck

Use rose dust. Go out at night and puff some on where they go in and out and they will track it into their nest on their hairy little legs. I learned that from an exterminator who came to where I work to clear out yellowjackets that we had no luck killing with spray.

Alittle can of gas or diesel poured in the hole will fix them up good. We used to do that when putting up praire hay would have a nest out in the field a small can of gas and they were gone. If there is someway of plugging the hole with something would be better. Wait until about dark when they are settled in for the night. Spray some wd 40 in the hole and plug it real fast. You,ll have more sugsetions than you can shake a stick at be my quess. Catch you awhile ago.

Brake or carb cleaner works on bees anh hornets and it would clean any stray greese or oil

If you can get your hands on some military 30-06 BLANKS, they work wonders. Hold the barrel close to the hole and touch her off....the concussion does the trick. ask one of your buddies at the American Legion to get you a few....they keep them for funeral salutes. I had an Allis CA...there isn't anything in there you're going to hurt.
