Does anyone have any ideas about repowering a JD 3020 LP gas? I got the tractor cheap and the engine is shot!! Any ideas or info would be helpful. I was thinking of a small Cat or Cummins engine!! Anyone done it?? Thanks

Combine my idea with b&d- sell the shot engine for someone else to rebuild and stick a dependable Cummins in there. Make a few people happy.

What serial number and options? Deere collectors will pay for a 3020LP or 4020LP. A non Deere engine will turn resale to less than scrap part price.

LP PS side console with the hydraulic controls beside the seat? If it is good heavens, don't chop up a rare tractor. That would be like my Grandfather throwing out his old round cylinder record player and his player piano. Or like may Father cutting up a big old knurly black walnut for firewood. It was worth serious bucks to make rifle stocks or furniture with. Or like the guy here who was going to re-power a gas 4230. Then there was the guy who was stripping parts off a 330 to repair his “M”. As for people not liking LP? I don't know why so many people are scared of the stuff?

Kinze Mfg, Jim Spaid-319-668-1300. They do repowers on various sizes JD w/ Cummins engines. Cummins has a repower program for 2wd tractors with the B series engines. Cummins Great Plains, Steve Mallicoat- 319-366-7537.

There is a Deere industrial conversion that I've seen done that looked good but why not just put a deere long block in and be done with it. Last time I looked a long block was around $5000 and the tractors are selling around 8-10K.
