Howdy Guys..... .....and Gals..... I was surfing the YTMag and as always took a look to see if Allan had posted any pictures as I just drool over his pictures. What a disapointment it was to find a picture of a flat tire tonight, I know he can do better. Anyway, so I decided to find something to liven things up a little. I had just sent an Email to a buddy with a couple of pictures and ran across this picture that I thought ya'll might enjoy seeing. This picture was taken last October, about the middle of the month. This is the field across the road from my place and it was freshly planted as you may be able to see. Later in the spring, this produced some of the most beautiful and delicious cabbage you have ever seen, and beyond the vision in the picture was some of the best red and white onions I have ever eaten. Anyway, back to the reason for the picture. I imagine you may have noticed a little smoke in the background. It just so happenen I was outside at the moment with camera in hand when they lit this sugar cane field. The field is a good 15 miles away but since it's so flat here it looks much closer. Every fall we put up with lots of black ash and clouded skies but no one complains as it brings big bucks to the Rio Grande Valley. In this picture the field had just been lit, and it burnt for about a half hour. The burns are controlled and they are as safe as possible although we have lost a few illegal alliens who were using the fields to hide from the imigration officers. They always post the fields with huge red signs several days prior to the burns in several languages including Spanish, but fear can cause error in judgement occasionally. It is a rare occasion that this happens, but it does happen. This particular fire was a regular burn with no problems thank goodness. Anyway, I thought ya'll might enjoy seeing a pretty blue Texas sky just prior to being clouded up with ugly smoke. OK Allan, now it's your turn again. Maybe you can turn that tire picture upside down and tell everyone you had a flat on top??? Just a thought. George in deep S. TX.
