Just wondering if anybody had noticed any drop in show attendence this year. Wondering whether the high fuel prices have had an effect on it.

I've often marveled at the trouble and expense folks will go to hauling tractors and equipment to shows so that we can look at them. Some of the bigger equipment that has to be hauled on lowboys and flatbeds has to cost somebody serious dollars to transport. Yet there they are. I know I appreciate it, but I wonder how long it can last with $2.50+/gal fuel.

Our annual Ozark Empire Fair had a record last year of 286,000 people this year it was down about 50,000, the weather was a lot hotter this year though, I'm sure fuel prices also had some effects .

Daytime crowds are getting smaller and older with more wheel chairs etc. If it wasn't for the evening garden and field tractor pulls, the show would have been broke long ago.

I've been noticing the lower attendance at tractor shows, as well as farm toy shows. I've even noticed smaller crowds at auctions. People have less expendable cash, so the prices on used and/or collectable tractors and equipment seems to be creeping down somewhat too.

Oh well....

Lower prices? maybe it's time to dig up a few coffee cans from the back yard and go on a buying spree ;)

Where you been IDF?

'been around here mostly. Done on Tales in all likelyhood. Got a few people that don't like me, and seem to think it's their moral obligation as true Christians to launch full-on character assaults on me. 99% of the folks over there are good people, but a few think they're BETTER people. I just don't need the grief right now.

Ever notice how some folks just aren't happy unless they're telling someone else what to do, how to act, or what to believe?

I only felt the sting of personal stuff on Tales a couple of times, but I don't go there much any more either.

Have a great day!

You know what.... I'll be the very first to admit I'm not perfect. I'm not even close to being close.... So what....??? Who among us is?

The thing is, I get this pompous, indignant, and somewhat malicious sermon from a few people every so often about MY shortcomings, from someone who THINKS they're so rightious that they're directly at the right hand of GOD.

In my younger days, I'd have went toe to toe with them, attemting to prove "who's right". Now I see things a little differently. I'll let them have their say. They can make accusations based on what they THINK, or what they HEARD from someone who THINKS they know what's up....That's the perogative.

And far be it for me to pass judgement on them....
