I'm thinking about purchasing a Mahindra 6000 2wd drive tractor. Looking for any comments regarding that brand and it's reliability.

I have a 5500 Mahindra with matching loader and am very pleased. My best friend bought a 6000 a year later and is also pleased. My farm is 200 miles from my home and job and I got tired of turning wrenchs on the old stuff when I needed to be using the tractors. The Mahindra had no problem starting in 10 degree weather when it had not been touched in six weeks. I dearly love the antiques and have since added a 1951 Super C to mow the small acreage at my house, but when it takes an act of congress to get a three day weekend and alot a prayer for the needed sunshine you have to be ready to make the hours count. There are many fancier tractors out there, but they are tough to beat for the money.

Thank you so much. That is exactly my position too. I live 258 miles away from the acreage I need to work on and I need the tractor to be ready when I am. I can't continue fix and repair, then have any time over the weekend to work the farm also. Thank you for your comments, I'm calling the dealership today.

I don't have any expererience with them, but the John Deere dealership I drive passed everyday has stopped selling JD compacts and started selling Mahindra's. I see a fair number of them poping up in the surronding area so they can't be too bad.

I've had a 6000 4WD (8 speed synchro shuttle shift)for a tad over 2 years now and find that it's one of the best tractors, not that I've operated but that I've ever seen for the money. I've got the FEL and have also collected a Bradco 511 Backhoe (under Mahindra name). Think about 4WD. You can't get the fully sychro trans without it. One of the best tractors for the buck anywhere. Had looked at taking them on to sell, the only drawback I heard about and it caused me to drop the idea of selling is parts availability. If you happen to break something weird, and it is not in stock in Tomball, TX, I have heard the wait can be a little lengthy. Other than that, heard NOTHING bad about them, in fact by specs and literature I looked at, they had a lot of the more popular tractors beat hands down.

It's almost funny.... The Mahindra main shipping yard (in Tomball) is about 10 miles from my house... with a sign on the fence "No Retail Sales".

I guess I couldn't even go in there for parts?

It's easily twice as far to the nearest Mahindra dealership... Oh well...

My dad has had one for almost 2 years, now...

He's had no complaints... Neither have I (of course, I've only used it once)...

I've had a 475-DI Mahindra since 1992, and wish I'd bought two of them.
