It's the WTO stuff that is more menancing. We *should* be doing everything we can to encourage economic development worldwide. But it starts in the U.S. And then extends to our neighbors. And only after Canada, Mexico, and the other Americas are on a solid foot should we consider easier trade with distant lands, most especially distant lands that still loom as potential future adversaries. I'm not one to protect every last American clothespin factory, and certainly for all the doom-and-gloom I hear I keep seeing new office buildings and new shopping centers and new homes being built. But I do believe there are things fundemental strategically -- like agriculture, like diverse manufacturing -- that have to be encouraged to stay and thrive even if you can buy it cheaper overseas. But if we must buy it overseas, I so prefer Americas over Aisa; and certain Aisan nations like Japan & India over say China. And I think we should withdraw from the WTO and let our politicians make decisions in the best interests of our nation. Matt
