Depends? Do people need glasses? Drawbar loads, what type, three point hitch being used, loader, tire size, type, tread, soil etc. 2WD bias ply tires doing draft work at 3-5 mph? 115 to 145 lbs per pto HP with 65% of the tractor's weight on the rear wheels. You very well maybe bettwe off wihtout adding ballast. There is a habit out there.Grand Pappy added ballast, Pappy added ballast so I should add ballast too.

Tractor manuals tell you to fill the tire 3/4 full- not to have the valve at tdc, but below that. You need 1/4 of the space for proper cushion of air.

As John and Allan has said fill to almost full, be sure to put in antifreeze for your area. Here is a website on ballast chart and weight..HTH Keith

Bebe, put the air valve at TDC when you rotate the tire and wheel. Then do as Allan said, All you ca get. At that point is when a tir is fully loaded. also you will want the small air pocket at the to to be able to check the tire pressure with a standard air gauge. if not then you will need one that will work on water. Also do not forget to use ssome sort of Anti-freeze protection.
Later,
John A.

Bebe,

Fill "em as full as you can get "em. If you don"t, that fluid tends to "slosh" around and gives you unwanted movement.

Allan
