I know where you can buy a 1949 John Deere "A" with all new tires. Runs good! You would have to talk to the owner about price. I"m thinking he was asking 1500.00 for it. Where do you live?

I just bought a 1949 A for 800 Dollars. Sounds just about like the one at which you're looking. The problem with As is that there are sooooo many of them. This website states three hundred thousand produced. I assume that includes from unstyled to early sytled to late styled.

I'd pass.

Mark--

Way overpriced. $1500.00 MAX.
The carburetor probably needs rebuilt and not just cleaned, generator probably needs rebuilt and maybe the starter. Check the upper and lower water pipes and the radiator.

I bought a 48 A a few years ago and just telling you my experiences. Radiator core replacement and a real pain; not one of JD's best design features.

Seems about 50% overpriced, unless there is something special about it that you haven"t said. 3K is about all it would be worth restored, unless it"s an AWH or Hi Crop.JMHO
