About 15 inches of wet sloppy stuff that is now froze as hard as a rock. Got drifts in my main work yard that are 4 feet deep. No problem. I own a 9 foot 3-point blower that I put on my brothers tractor (4840 JD) in the winter. Except that the blower is in yet another yard not hooked up to any tractor. The yard is severely blocked. Brother wasn't ready to give up the use of the 4840 any earlier. I wish we had at least gotten the blower home.

Oh well, now I don't have to do the work. I just talked to my neighbor that has a payloader and he's going to clean out my 2 yards. All I have to do is watch him out the window and sign the check. Still don't know how we are going to get that blower home yet..... ..

I'm with you on that one Jay - When the dew point gets above 60 I hate it! A few times on weather.com I checked New Orleans - dew point was near 80!!!!! ! Talk about mold growing -

Friend in nw North Dakota said it is going to melt right off. Still time to work in better weather. Bring it home and test on the snow bank your neighbor builds you. (hopefully)

LOL I wish - and yes, likely this will go away, but 14 years ago to the day we were building Dad's house and we got a storm like this. It stayed. Unfortunately I can't wait to see if we can get to the blower in a day or two, I have semis coming in this afternoon. Oh well :)

Jay When posting weather reports, or crop reports, please give a approximate location for those of us who don"t know where you are. I know it snowed in Canada, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, And Minnesoto. If you were to say SE Montana for example, if you don"t want to give your exact location, it would help a lot.

My name should give it away that I'm in North Dakota - I'm up in the NE.

Thanks Jay, now we know. I used to have a neighbor who was born and raised near Devils Lake ND. He was a young guy, and after he got his education here in Lincoln and worked a year or 2 he went to Fargo. Missed the winters and snowmobiles etc. So I have heard some tales about ND winters.

Delbert, the heck of it is, this isn't North Dakota WINTER! Heck, it's still supposed to be fall!

They are predicting highs in the 60's by the weekend, and possible rain, so, likely this snow will go away. Rarely, does it freeze up here until the 5TH to the 12TH of November.

I'm about 75 clicks from DL - I'm not sure I would miss the snow. I definitely wouldn't miss the wind. But what I would miss is the lifestyle and the people here.

DL has been growing (not the town, the lake) every year since about 93. It's diked like crazy - the town would be gone if they let go. It's ND's own version of New Orleans. Personally, I don't think that people should be allowed to rebuild in these flood plains.

I was born and raised in McVille N.D. not to far from Devils Lake. My uncle used to run Stump Lake for a few years . Quite the place. It's amazing the amount of water flowing in there from Devils Lake . Heard they were gonna channel some of it into the sheyanne river.

Is your uncle the guy that just died a week or two ago? My wifes family owns all the land right before you come into the park at Stump. It is absolutely amazing. When I started dating my wife, a person could walk across that lake, now Hwy 1 is about 15 feet under water. The lake is 50 feet deep in places I've been told. That lake was so sour before nothing was in it, now the walleye are biting like crazy.

We are thinking about getting a lot on some of my wife's family land around stump and putting our camper there permanently. We are 60 miles north of there, but that isn't too far for a weekend getaway place. We do a lot with my wife's family so it would be perfect.

Nice hearing from a "native" :)

No my uncle is still around,, He farms between Aneta , and McVille . Lloyd Galde ..He used to raise turkeys years ago . I spent most of my youth on the farm in the summers after we moved to Iowa . We had lived in Kloten . I was just back up there in july for family reunion . we did drive around Stump lake . I used to run the Roller skating rink there when i was a kid ,,lot of old memories !They have sure fixed things up around there , and all the camping spots . Hard to believe the fishing there is so good now.

I went to NDSU with your uncle. He tried to get me to come out and help him load turkeys at 2 a.m. I can't stand the smell of poultry so I declined. I seem to remember that we tipped a few back in those days.
