Case 446 as in the garden tractor? Although a very tough garden tractor, I out-grew my 446. My environment in MI is different than yours in the winter though. I could not keep up with some snow storms removing snow up here with the Case 446. Those 4-5 foot snow drifts were not manageable. I would call the neighbor at $35 a pop every 2-3 weeks to plow the drive and access to the barn.

The 446 3-point roto-tiller really did not go deep enough, chop up weeds well and 42" was too wide for weed maintence in-between rows. So, back to the walk-behind 24" wide tiller for that job.

The mower cuts grass ok, but the 100-lb deck got to be a pain to handle when removing for tilling in the garden, then back to installing the deck for mowing again. I got lazy & simply bought a light duty JD L-100 for cutting the grass. It handles better in tight areas as well, but does have a real 'Murray type low dollar' sheet metal frame that would bend under some Case 446 heavy activities.

I replaced the Case 446 with a small JD 420U farm tractor with a front loader, snow blade & rear tiller.

My 2 cents.
