I wrote the other day of picking corn with a 2MH and Super M. My dad said there was a 2MHD that had a bigger husking bed for the high yielding corn. He said the letters stood for 2 row mounted heavy duty instead of 2 row mounted husker. Can you guys tell me if he was right? I know the thing is sure heavy on the axles/

My dad had one of them when I was growing up.The elevators that took the corn from the snapin rollers were wider and the huskin bed was wider than on a 2MH. It also had a automatic oiler that oiled everything every 40 rods as you were pickin. The only grease zirk on the hole picker was at the bottom of the wagon elevator. We had it mounted on a 460 int. and everyone told us it was to light of tractor for this picker but we used it for years with no problem

In the hill country around here, 2MH pickers mounted on even 560 IHC tractors would snap axles too frequently, as the wheels had to be slid to the axle ends for clearance. you must of handled the 460 very well, not to have problems. Usually an M Farmall would be the tractor of choice under a 2ME or 2MH. John in Nebraska

The 350 & 460's were available with a Heavy-Duty rear axle option, same 2-3/4" axles the M/SM/SM-TA/400/450/560 had to carry mounted pickers. 300, Super H, H were not avail. with H-D rear axles. Dad mounted a 2M-E on His '51 M something like 21 years and never snapped an axle. About every year You'd hear of someone snapping on though. LOT of hard work getting the tractor jacked up & repaired while the picker was on. Even before the gearbox & wagon elevator was mounted you could see the rear axles bow under the weight of the 2M-E picker. The 2M-H & 2M-HD were both heavier still. I wouldn't mount a 2M-HD or 234 picker on anything smaller than a 706 w/3-1/4" axles.

Neighbor was in road gear down the tar road when the axle snapped. Not sure which tractor, but that had to be a heck of a ride.
