Has nothing to do with tractors, but is interesting. A few weeks back a deer gored a man in his back yard, and the man died from completions of the attack. Yesterday a biker hit a flying wild turkey, and is in serious condition in the hospital. This probably happens back east a lot, but is not very common in San Diego county. Stan

Here in southcentral Alaska, we have moose wander in and out of our yard all winter long. They occasionally stomp people, even to death. It's just something that we learn to live with here. When I go out in the yard, I'm not looking for a robber. I am looking for a cow moose that might see me as a threat to her calf. Gotta love it. -Jon

Get a set of those plastic noise makers that emit a sound we can"t hear but scare off most animales. I live in heavy deer country and since I have been using them no deer has stood around long enough for my vehicle to get close to even at night. I was sold on them by a friend who had nailed two deer on his motor cycle and was almost killed. They work and only cost about six bucks at jc whitney or auto parts stores.

Friend and I are going in to have lunch at deer camp. Friend shoots deer, but deer runs off. After lunch we go look for wounded deer.As we walk up to deer friend is in front of me, deer has head up and is very much alive. Why my friend did not shoot deer at this point I do not know. Deer gets up comes tword friend , who grabs it by the horns. Friends son walks up shoots deer in neck, deer starts thrashing feet like it was still alive and running full speed, my friend is very lucky he wasnt hurt or killed, watch out for deer. Lou

The stats of all the dangerous wild animal deaths in the US & Canada.E.g. Snakes, spiders, bees, scorpions, politicians, large cats, bears etc. The one animal that kills more people than all other wild animals combined is the white tail deer.

I once saw a job ad for an auto panel beater in an outback Australian town. Applicants had to be 'experienced in kangaroo strike and rollover repairs. Must be the only types of accidents they have out there.

Back in I think '96, it was the day before I went in to pick up my new motorcycle. I was coming home from a friends house on the bike I was going to trade in. About 11:00 p.m. I came over a hill and noticed something just in the edge of my light. It was several mostly black holstein heifers on the road. I got through them but did catch one on the head with the end of my handlebars. Almost collected one of the neighbors cows with a car on the road once too. When I was about 20 yrs younger I just about got my head taken off by a goose while riding a dirt bike. I've also seen a horse hit by a small car. Horse and car about same condition afterwards... many pieces.

Rancher 72 yrs old was walking the high end of his place looking for the best place to put in a logging road back in Sept. Said he felt like he wasn`t alone and looked behind him. A full grown cougar was about 50 ft behind him and crouched. He started throwing rocks and sticks at it to make it leave. He still walks around but is carrying a big handgun with a laser sight. Says he is gonna knock the cougar down before he becomes kitty food. They are going to do some selective cutting when the snow falls. We saw 5 cow elk up there today and two groups of turkeys probably 60 in all.

Chief, I was on my harly and hit a Dog that would weigh in at about 75-80 lbs, one of those that will hunker down at the edge of the pavement like he's hid. He was in front of a farm house and the farmer and his wife was setting on the porch. I saw the dog but I was running at a good clip, he run at me and hit the front wheel dead center. when the bike landed, I was going backwards, I road it out and never fell. after I got stopped, I hooked the kickstand around and got off. The farmer and his wife went to the dog, the farmers wife, was calling me everything she could come up with, all the guy could say was, how in the world, did you ever learn how to ride one'a them backards? I told him that this was my first time to try it, but I had always wanted to. And the dog did die.

Not only animals...During opening day of pheasant season here 10 days ago, an area farmer was shot and killed by a deputy sheriff when the farmer refused to drop his gun. This occurred after the farmer had flattened the tires on a pickup belonging to some other hunters.

A fella I know hit a deer at well over 100 mph on a big Yamaha, right in the middle. "Cut" the deer in half, never even knocked him over.

Son just walked in, said that he left a good skid mark just north of _____"s farm.

"Deer?"

"Yup!"

Adjoining county leads the state in car deer accidents. Heard the statistics a while back - wish I had them in print to share. Suffice it to say the cost is staggering.

A young man that helped me out on the farm had a strange situation happen a few years back. He was riding his four wheeler and a buck crosssed the road in front of him and they collided. He wasn't going very fast and the deere got his antlers caught in the front rack of his four wheeler and in the process tore his front light off. I wouldn't have believed this story, but it happened on the main road about 1/4 mile from my house and I just happened to be outside and was watching. All I saw was the fourwheeler going down the road and it suddenly stopped and the light went out. It wasn't until the next day that he told me what happened!

b.i.l. hit a deer with his bike. Killed deer and b.i.l.lucky to be alive. He was wearing his helmt and leather jacket but no gloves. It was dark out.

Me. Hit 500# calf. Daytime. Calf came up out of ditch and right in front of truck. Sometime later hit a black angus bull. Bull survived, vehicle didnt. Tried to go under semi grain trailer during blizzard. I was going west, semi was going north. Didnt know I done that untill I woke up in hospital. About two years later got run into by a horse. Totaled the horse and killed my van. It was the horses fault.
