I thoroughly enjoy his postings!!! He has a way of asking a question that may sound "not too bright", but it comes across as a very legitimate question. He's a great writer!

Now, for the reason for my post...his name is Allan, not "Allen" as most folks seem to post.

Nitpicky? Probably, but I think he deserves to be called by the right name.

Best regards to all,

Stan

Fort Robinson…I have a glass photo negative of what a guy at the State Historical Society in Lincoln, said was the best picture he had seen of the Fort from that period, 1900. A relative was on a Burlington R.R. survey crew and took some pictures along the way. If Allan knows people with an interest in the local history he might put us in touch.
I think we should all welcome help from the spelling and keyboard police.

I agree, Allen is the best! Allen has helped me several times, Allen even found a part and sent it to me after I searched the entire state of Kansas with no luck...Allen deserves our respect and Allen deserves to be called by Allens rightful name...Thanks, Allan. ; -)

Have him send you some of the music he has created. Not bad fer a farm hand, medical master, puter geek. Allen aint as well rounded as some but he's been around more than most. I generally listen to what he has to say..even if I poke fun his way.

Allan: Careful with your responce on this last one. Stan has been in or very close to every rural North Americans' back door yard in his lifetime. First time I ever encountered him, he tried to let on he was from Florida, but I saw through his e address, (IndIllIa). Try and pronounce that you'll soon figure where he is from. Two of his passions are cheese and John Deere tractors.

Hugh,

Thanks for the kind words. My e-mail address (Indillia), as you know, represents the places I've lived...Indiana, Illinois and Iowa. I've been in Florida for 28+ years, but I've never decided that I really "lived" here. The job paid the bills, but I sure as heck miss the Midwest except for winter. The ice fishing is not too great down here, though.

Best regards,

Stan

Allan,

You do know that the "not too bright" comment was not meant as an insult, don't you? You know the old quote about "dumb questions"? Well, you never ask one of those, for sure. You have a helluva neat collection of "stuff" lately, even if it is red.

Where are you from in Nebraska?

Best regards,

Stan Huff
Melbourne, FL

Oh heck yeah, I knew that. :>)

Yep, I'm gettin' quite a pile of old rusy iron once again. It's kinda fun buying stuff nobody else wants anymore; it's way, way cheaper going this route.

Although, Cowman did tell me that he has dibs on some of it when I go broke again. :>)

I live in the far northwest corner of Nebraska, out by Fort Robinson where the US Calvery killed ol' Crazy Horse back in the day.

My grandpa used to buy his saddle horses off that post when it was still operational and when the Army mustered 'em out. Darned nice mounts as I recall, but I sure got a belly full of the derned hayburners as a youngster. Probably why I just don't get all excited about horses anymore. :>(

The subdivision I now live in is called Poverty Hill. This is where I am currently trying to organize a local wife-swaping club. To date, the only one who is really for the darned idea is my wife. Hmmmm. :>(

Thanks fer the hollar,

Allan
