What are my options for replacing a lost serial tag? I am trying to research the original owners and dealership but that is very hard as you know. Do I just take a tag off a scrapped 320 standard? Does anyone know of anyone who has tags for sale? Thanks for any comments and help.

Ooohh... no I don't think you'll see a 320 scrapped... Better document the entire process as carefully as possible. 320 tractors are pretty valuble, and have been known to be faked. The documentation will serve as evidence to prove the authenticity of the tractor. Even so, a 320 with a replacement tag from John Deere will not hold the same value as an original tagged 320.
Good luck finding the history of your 320!
Dave

Don't think your going to find a scrapped 320
with a good tag,but you can get a replacement tag from john deere. You'll need the block number
from below the generator stamped into the block.
Your JD dealer can send it into Deere and about
6 months later you might get a tag if the tractor
block hasn't been changed.

Is the number on the block individual to each tractor or will that just prove it truly is a 320 standard?

The number is the indentity of that particular
tractor. When traced by JD it will give you the
original serial number of that tractor.JD can issue you a replacement tag.The tag they issue
doesn't look like the original, but it's an authentic tag issued by JD for that tractor.
You can then submit the serial number to the two cylinder club to be reasearched. They can't
tell you much history wise, usually just the build and shipping date unless there's something special about your tractor. If the block in the tractor has been changed sometime in the past you
won't get a tag issued because the block number won't match your tractor.
