I have a 1960 French made MF 25 with a great running Perkins diesel engine. It is in relitive good shape. I even have the original Owner's manual. I no longer need the tractor and I hate to just sell it to someone who does not appreciate its value. I don't know its value myself, but I do know it is rare. Is there anyone out there who can give me some idea of its value.

I had a MF 130 (later version of the MF 25) a few years ago- didn't learn about its French heritage until after I bought it at auction. I paid $2,300 at auction, did some fixing, and felt lucky to get $2,700 at the second auction I took it to (it didn't make reserve at the first one). After commissions, I about broke even. The "made in France" thing is a problem, reputation-wise- I happened to overhear the buyer showing it to a couple of fellows after he purchased- when he got to the ID tag, he said, "Made in &%*$ France! Oh, *%$#@!" Rare isn't always desireable. . .

Funny how the most desirable Allis Chalmers is the 160, made in France. Funny that the most desirable Ford, the Comete was made in France. Funny that the most valuable cars in the world, Bugatti, were made in France. Funny that the car all the hotrodders try to emulate,(though they probably don't know it), the Citroen Traction, was made in France. And what about all the John Deeres with French engines, the Ford pickups with French transmissions, and the up-coming Ford cars with French diesel engines? Then we could mention the styling of the Farmall tractors and Studebaker Coupes, quite accepted by collectors.

Yes a lot of the Deere engines are French built. The Renault tractor co. (not to be confused with the car company they split years ago) produced some excellent tractors.(admitted they used to have German built MWM engines ) they are now part of Claas. I would certainly prefer a French built Renault to French built Massey though!

I must run with a lower class of folks- funny how neither you nor any of the other fans of French technology ever seem to show up at any sales I go to. Can you refer me to a picture of a Citroen Traction?
