Worried Fer Nothin'

I'm not a winter person; I hate seeing winter come and all those long boring days. Dread it every year.

So, this year I figure I'll buy an old tractor and tinker with it thereby making the dreary wintertime move a little faster. Right?

Just a note: Be careful in what ya buy.

So far, I've got it narrowed down to about 715 things left to fix on this old junker and I'm afraid I'll run out of time before next spring comes. Sure hope the winter lasts a little longer. :>)

I knew she was the "roughest of the rough" when I bought it; but I kinda wanted to "putz around" with a winter project. Sure didn't know what I was bitin' off here. Heh, he. :>)

I really think this engine was frozen or locked up before I bought it and someone has "loosened it up", 'cause it pushed blue smoke and had loads of blow-by when I brought it home.

Since I've been running it and makin' it work again, the darned blue smoke has completely stopped and the blow-by has quieted down to what appears to be plumb normal.

Ya spose it is really possible to bring these old things back from the edge of being completely "dead"? I thought sure I was gonna have to overhaul that engine, but she really is running sweet now.

Do you have any information on the history of the tractor? Maybe the former owner could tell you more about it.

I don't know a thing about it. I'm almost certain she came right out of a junk yard and they were gonna pull the hydro out of it for another unit.

Then, like the retard that I am, I walk in and buy the old pig before they realized the hydro wasn't worth a damnnnnn n anyway. :>(

I'm really good at buying porkers, ya know. But boy! Am I ever havin' fun fixin' 'er up!

Just got the ol' heifer all tuned up and runnin' right this morning. If it didn't have my cheapo $40 muffler on it (a bit loud), ya couldn't tell 'er from a new one. Pulls like a mananic now. :>)

I've made a lot of purchases that seemed really good going in, then turn out to be less promising once I've taken a good look. I look forward to updates as you progress on this one.
