I have a model 50 john deere tractor. My question is that how do I find out what model letter it is? is it a model 50 A? or a B? can someone please explain to me where I might find this?

The number series followed the letter series. The model 40 was the newer equivalent of the model M, the model 50 the newer version of the B, the 60 the newer version of the A, the 70 the newer version of the G, and the 80 the newer version of the R.
This would mean that your model 50 is the newer version of the model B, and has a few upgrades. If you look to the left, under Research & Info, you will see Serial Numbers. Follow it through to John Deere, and you will see that the 50 and B are two different models. You can find the year out by looking up the serial number in that section of the website.
Hope that helps you!

Joe,

Not trakin' with ya; 'course I don't hang with the John Deere crowd much anymore.

There was a model B, a model A and the 50s, 60s, 70s and that big 80.

The 50 was about the same size as the old B.

We might just stand a chance of turnin' you to the green!

This spring I did Work Experience at the local CaseIH dealership, and I gotta admit that the old IH's were pretty nice to work on.

Now I'm gonna have to watch my step in the JD forum! ;-)

By the way, how are things down in NE? Up here in Alberta, it's tough to believe it's November. We still have double digit temperatures ABOVE zero (celsius). (About 50 Farenheight)

Talk to ya later, Allan!
