Rauville, my mom was from Lake Norden, west of Watertown, still have many rels there and in Bryant, SD. Our weather here in SE Mich has been strange. 3" of snow niter of 21st, winds gusting to 50 mph, cold & windy all T-giving, another 3" sat. am. It usually never snows around here until after xmas. Today (Mon) it is 60 deg and raining all day. I finally got my 2 stage snow blower on the garden tractor today. John L.

No kidding Tim. Seems it was 85 degrees outside until a couple weeks ago. The wind yesterday was awful. 10 inches short on rain with strong winds and you get fire danger that is through the roof.

yep, we lost the tractor barn - barn is in serious need of help but everything inside is okay. Lots of trees down and such - the main problem we had was fire. Hubby was out til 4:00 this morning fighting that problem. Thankfully, all that we lost was the shop structure and the swing set got wadded up, but those are both fixable.

CL, Sorry about damage. National news reported on fire being blown by high winds near Weatherford, TX. Weatherford home of Ben Green, the author, whose books I like.

the one that burnt Stone Bluff area and the other one that hit between Coweta and Broken Arrow could be seen over the tops of the trees between the house and the river.....not a pretty sight by any means. Stone Bluff is still smoldering now, I just got back from Haskell and they are still out working on it. Appears some kids wanted a bon fire last night....what started the one at Stone Bluff.

Over here in NY, we get the same thing, minus the amount of real heavy duty thunderstorms and tornados, but every so often a real bad one will roll through if we have a prevailing southern wind and a cold front hit each other just right, happened in '98, tornado cut a swath 10 miles north of here and flattened houses, moved buildings, just not on large scale as is seen in the midwest. Goalie on my hockey team lost his house, and all his hockey equipment, what a night that was.

I just wish it would be more consistent, deep freeze, snow stays or whatever, changes too much so as soon as you get used to one thing, changes again, we try to use the ice on the 23 acre pond every year, but the weather sure dictates how that goes !

Yesterday, had 1000 acres of grassland burn off in Johnson county Texas. Burned 24 homes to the ground. Don"t know how many out buildings. We are extremely dry, all it takes is one carelessly thrown out cigarette. This is the county south of Fort Worth.

Here in SW Pennsylvania, i was outside today, blowing the leaves into piles. nice and warm! Sunshine all over! s'posed to get cold tomorrow-the winds have been bad, but haven't heard of any damage yet, and especially no fires! Yet! Today is first day of deer hunting, but i gave it up long ago--figured a 50 yr. old guy with a wooden leg had no business traipsing around out in the woods in 12-15 inches of snow! One year, first day of deer hunting, the weather was really warm, hunted in T-shirts first day! That night the snow came! We couldn't find my truck, it had snowed so much! took several days to get out of that town! Next year, was different. Snowed 5-6 inches overnight! And, i had taken my travel trailer that time! A bit tricky getting it back home! RJ
