i have an 1937 unstyled model a john deere. it runs and moves, but doesnt look good and im unsure were i should start. id like to dissassemble the entire thing and fix every little thing but dont know what im doing and cant afford professional help. the gas slowly leaks out of the 3 way and i dont want to do away with it but dont know of any other options. id really appreciate pointers and opponions on what others have done when restoring tractors. thank you

I read an article about that 3way valve a while ago. It was on www.jdhpubs or robertscarbrepair
can't remember which website.

Probably need to start with a new sediment bowl, then remove the nut that holds the three way selector valve in place and install a D2122R packing gasket to stop the three way from leaking.

You need the operator"s and repair manuals for that tractor before you do anything. You can find sources on here or on the internet. Theyw ill explain a lot.

There"s a wealth of information here covering almost any aspect of tractor lore. Search this site for whatever you need - like fuel line leaks. The basic approach is to unfasten the line to the carburetor, then unscrew the three-way device from the fuel tank. Clean everything, then put the three-way valve back in with a little teflon tape. Then put the fuel line to the carbuiretor back on.
