She said it surprised her that she is afraid now. Boy, hope she didn't buy two of these hay burners fer nothin'..... :>(

I gotta get her over that, 'cause I hate horses! :>)

Mornin' Tim,

Hey thanks! We are really pleased with the two.

They are full sister and brother and both belonged to the best heeler I've ever laid eyes on, who has been trailerin 'em both down to events in Texas and Arizona for the past few years.

I'm just not a big "horse person" (probably too many of 'em when I was young), but have to say that I'm so impressed with their training. Totally hands free and cue completely by voice command, pressure and weight position.

Downside is that after this upcoming stud fee fer the mare, I think I'm gonna have more tied up in these two derned snorters than that old purple pickup in the background. :>(

Heres his.. This one came off some big ranch up there..They were using it as a pickup horse in Cheyenne.. I guess the good ones don't come cheap,I've bought some nice trucks for less than he gave for this manure spreader 8^)

Whoa Hey!

That ol' boy makes his mama proud! Yep, I was caught totally off guard when it came to the cost of these critters.

That little scrap of paper sure does make a difference. They still all eat like there's no tomorrow tho. :>)

Well being a little afraid is just normal at first and gives us more respect for those critters. Thinking about that pain from earlier can do that. You and her just be careful and take it slow and the time needed. I've hauled too many busted up people from horses in ambulances that didn't recover as fast so it's good to see her out there with them again so soon and facing it. You might find a local that can use them some pasture working or feedlot work to settle them some too.

Allan, Did you or the wife work the horses before you got ready to ride them? It doesnt hurt to work them a bit to get the edge off of them. It may be a good idea to get the one that threw her into training with a good trainer to find out if it has a habit of throwing riders. A well trained horse with a well trained rider is a sight to behold but even then the rider can get busted up if the horse decides to get rid of it. Myself, I like a more mature, settled horse that will baby sit this old man but wake up when I tickle it with the spur.

Those some good looking saddles. The one on the right reminds me of my grandads made at Stelzigs in 1898. Not many older seats like that around. Glad your wife is up and getting around, coulda been worse.
Clay.

Break them to harness for a buggy and wagon, get a mower so they can help get themselves winter feed. A walking plow, disc and cultivator for garden to help feed family without useing gas or diesel. 4 wheel ground drive manure spreader so they can help cleanup. Make the horses work, then get yourself some plainfolk clothes and don't worry about oil shortages. Have wife get some Amish friends. Forward into the 19th century! Or trade them for a H farmall for wife to drive. On a more serious note- Wi Amish horse trainers gentle many horses for English by harness breaking them and working them with carts, wagons a while daily, owners are advised to get small cart and continue working them on weekends. Seems to work calming down horse, driver of cart doesn't have as far to fall. RN

Oh heck yeah,

Just a couple of ol' saddle horses. But if you're scared and crawl on, they know it real quick.

I'm just afraid I've inherited more chores, the way this thing is shakin' down. :>(

Once this thing starts, ya can't get outta it. :>(
