I've seen both Chev OHV and Chrysler flathead sixes in WCs and WDs. I'd like to try a 300 Ford six. It has same bore and stroke as a WD. You'd need to move radiator to forward position and get a hood from a diesel. You'd also need a belt-drive governor, such as used on a Versatile swather. For best work, you might need a special grind high torq camshaft, but that can wait. Otherwise, you could look over engines from other tractors, such as Massey, Oliver, Farmall, etc.

I have a 262 ci engine from an a2 combine I have been saving to put in WD. If you keep the rpm high it"ll make 75 hp.You need a few parts from a WD45 diesel to make it fit.

I would suggest a late D17 gas engine, 170 gas engine or the considerably more available E Gleaner engine. All of these with the possible exception of the 170 are drop ins. Same basic block as your WD engine.

E Gleaner will need some work on the governor as some had a single speed governor.
