Found what I believe is a 54 Jubilee, evidence is hood ornament. Lady said I could play w/it before I buy to be sure engine turns over. First looked for key/key hole....could not find one..how in the world do you turn it "on"? Then thought her late husband might have eliminated key..ok, where is the key hole? In guage package is what appears to be a horn button?? Original? It has been converted to 12V but that has nothing to do w/trying to turn it on. Help is needed here.

If it is a jubilee, it would be a 1953 only. The model and serial no is on the bellhousing near the starter.
Th key is on the left side below the hood. The horn button is added most likely because the stater button on the transmission is bad. Not a good idea because there is an interlock to prevent staring in gear.
Some people do strange things because they are too cheap to fix things properly.

Really confused about year now....owners son-in-law called me about it and said it was a 57 9N? That would put it in the 600 series..oh, found the key hole right where all of you told me it would be. Guess the serial # on block will tell the whole story. Is there a way I can post some photos of this tractor so you experts can ID it for me? Son-in-law said the tractor has bad radiator, water pump and carb. needs rebuild, battery is ka-put, said they put oversize rear tires on it due to sugar sand (traction) in this area, it is a 3 speed forward, and does run or will run when above stuff is fixed (owner said $$ back if it does not), got it for $1000 w/shreader and box blade. Let me know about those photos...can send to one of your experts email if you want.

More info on my unknown year Ford. The ser. # is NAA 7006 B. It has an overhead valve 4 cyl. The hole in the bottom of the front grille is "round", The emblem on the nose is plain w/wheat stems...no names, dates or years. 3 speed forward, On the right side of the motor (the dist. side) two round metal hyd. lines are visible going under the tractor. Have photos but don't know how to use URL. Hope this helps someone ID it for me. Someone who knows more than me can supply their email address and I will send photos.

What you are describing sounds like a '54 NAA and the serial number indicates '54. Are you sure that it is not a 4 speed trans? That is teh only thing that is puzzling me.

Another expert emailed me and said the same thing, it was a 54 NAA. Seller told me it was a three speed, but as it is not running and have not looked closer, I am not sure. The tach shows 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th...there is a clue! I looked at the top of transmission and saw a 1,2,3 stamped in various places....did not see a 4 but who knows. Seller told me the large removable "plug" on the top of trans. close to the shifter was to convert it to a dual range...another "who knows". Seller's son-in-law said he had to buy an intake/exhaust manifold and thought the parts man told him it was a 9N - 1957 model...that does not make sence...that is what started the whole question. My main concern was to determine year/model so I could purchase the right parts. As mentioned, I have photos that I can email...do you want to see them? What is your email address. Dennis in Texas

I would like to see the pix, I unlocked my email so you can send them. It sure sounds like you have a '54 naa. Parts are readily available. Lots on this site and lots of others on the 'net. I get most of mine at the local independantly run John Deere tractor place. They are cheaper than the New Holland dealer. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the old boy as much as I have mine. You can post pix on the Picture board here, it is very simple, Mine is there (name is David Byers).

If its a 3 speed, its not a NAA or 600/800. Probably a 9N. Much older and would have a flathead 4 cyl engine.

Dennis, I am kinda new at all this myself, but it can't be a '57 9n. If I am not mistaken, 9N's were made from '39 to '42. Is it a overhead valve engine? Jubilee's and Naa's were. N's were flatheads. This 'site is very helpful in identifying the old fords. Link

Joe you are probably right about the horn button being a "fix" for the starter switch. Never thought of that. I was thinking of the light housing in the middle of the gage cluster. My key switch was missing and had been straight wired when I got it but the started switch was still active. You are right about some of the things that you find on these old tractors. I guess that some of it is a result of just plain "don't think" but some of it was a result of some old farmer just doing the best he could with what he had on hand. Irregardless, it makes it interesting for those of us who inhereted it!!! Have a good day!!!

If emblem on front reads Golden Jubilee 1903-1953 it is a '53 Jubilee, the '54 wasn't a Jubilee. It is an "NAA" "basicaly the same tractor.)The key switch is tucked up under the hood on the left side if you are sitting in the drivers seat. The "horn button" is probably a light that illuminated the gages. Good luck! (Fine old tractors, the Jubilee & NAA!)

My dad's has 2 Jubilee's, and though I noted the "1903-1953" on the hood ornament, it never dawned on me to ask: didn't they start making Fordson's ca. 1917?

What did they make from 1903 to 1917?
