Trying to track down what happened to the company. I know they made sleds into the seventies, but after that???. Did the company get bought out?, go bankrupt?, or what?.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,

In the picture it sure looks a lot like the old ski-do"s after all a lot of the parts of the old machines were interchangable- we still have some bogy wheel stuff left and an old panther 299 cat, also a johnson tank w/ 18" track and opposed two cyl. engine forware reverse and neutral- etc. and a FOX track made ?? in the 30"s possibly- 8 HP manure spreader chain w/ channel iron cleats bolted accross for a track- ski"s are about 7" wide a real first try as a smo-mobile or ice machine anyone interested

My Elan could climb any hill! Miss that thing.
My 12/3 unfortunately suffered as I had little mechanical ability and tried things like cutting off the muffler and putting on a striaght pipe- made noise but ran slower.

On the Skiroule stuff try rtxdoug dot com or any of the other sites I mentioned before.

Jonfarmer,
Skiroule snowmobiles were made by the coleman company. I own 2 of them a rt and rtx. Just this year the rtx bacame a parts machine. I thought it held up well as my brother raced the machine the first year that I owned it. They even took it to West Yellowstone, MT to race. Mine must be newer than the one you show as it has the sliderail suspension. The motor on both machines are 440's. I still ride my down to get the paper on weekends or pull the grandkids whenever they come out. The rt will probably last me for the rest of my sledding days. Good old machine. Bud

I wonder how much stuff the Coleman company made?, they also must have made the Coleman front wheel assist kits for the 66 series International tractors?. The snowmobile in the picture above is just one I grabbed off the internet, it isn't mine. Is any parts still availible?.

You might have a soft spot in your heart but I have a sore spot on my A** from those machines. If I had to go back to those early machines I'd give up the sport.

Well you still had fun didn't you?. Lots of fun to hit a rut or something in a field and the machine would just flop over on it's side too :')

We had 1966 Polaris that my dad won in a raffle. It will be in the farm auction this spring in Stevens County, MN.

Try going over to vintagesleds dot com or retrosnow dot com, lots of good info there. Also the Vintage Snowmobile Club of America (VSCA) has a website.

Skiroule like hundreds of smaller sled makers did not survive the 70"s, Alouette, Chapparal and others bit the dust at the time.

Sno Jet was purchased by Kawasaki, and in 1982 Kawi gave up on the sled business. Artic Cat bought Scorpion as some point in the late 70"s and when Artic Cat went bankrupt in "81 the Scorpion nameplate died with them. Artic Cat came back.

The surviving snowmobile makers like Bobardier (Ski-Doo) Polaris, Yamaha and Cat all make ATV"s and other products.

I grew up in Todd County MN in the 70"s to mid "80"s, I rode old Ski Doos, had a 1970 12/3 Olympique, a "68 Super 370 (opposed twin, ran like stink when I could keep it going) and later a "71 Elan that was my favorite.

I moved due to jobs etc to the southeast and have not been in the saddle so to speak since 1990 but I plan to try and make it back home once a year or so to do some riding.

I will always have a soft spot for the old one lunger sleds with bogie wheels.

Hey Eric,
My primary ride right now is a '70 Olympique 12/3, its a great little machine. Light with decent power and super simple to keep running. I'm putting a brand new track on it now the old one helped me get it stuck a couple times last year.

Some darn good information there. I was wondering whatever happened to the company as my grandfather used to sell Skiroule for a short period of time.

I loved my '71 Elan, no one could keep up to me on tight trails, and never got stuck!
