watch those emails, here's one I got tonight might have fooled me but I see so many that you notice little things like there was no item number listed or linked to the item. I know I should be using ebay's new message system instead of relying on emails but by the time I come hear and another forum or two I don't need one more place to have to check messages. Just be careful, this was NOT sent from ebay Hello,

I have bid on your item , can you please contact me and tell me how much is shipping to zip code 92110 ? Thank you very much for your response!

I'm new to Ebay, just joined last week. Thanks for the warning I would not have caught on to that. But now I'm the wiser!

If it truly is from e-bay, an identical message will be on your "my e-bay" page. If the message is not there, it is not from e-bay.

I received 2 emails that looked like ebay and they asked me to update info or my account would be suspended. It had a web site to open. I didn't feel right about it and sent both to spoof@ebay.com. Ebay replied within an hour that they were in fact NOT from ebay.

And then there is one that wants to know why he or she is not allowed to bid on your item! If you fall for that one you may be taking bait!

Jeez I got something like that about a month ago . It said something about wanting to know how much shipping was or something. The thing that caught my eye was the email was from last summer or something and I never sold anything to this person. It was for a harley davidson motorcycle I think. So I deleted it but now I am wondering if I signed in to check the out. oopps. JON

The scam is there is always a link on the page that takes you to what "looks like" an Ebay login screen. If you fall for it, they have your user and password.

Never use the link on an email that looks like it's from Ebay or Paypal.

Always go thru Ebays front webpage

What they are trying to do is get you to click on a link in the email that takes you to what looks like an ebay page but is not and then there will be a box for you to enter your username and password. Get it now?

Yup, I got it now. I got nailed with that one last year. Figured it out after entering info, immediately changed password.
