Kinda like olds job question. I haven't moved very far myself but I'm sure others have. Went from the house born in to trailer home 100 yds away. Then moved back to old house born in.
In 2000 I built new house 200 yds other direction. So I've moved a total of 300 yds in my life. Right here west of North Liberty Iowa.

Lived downstairs, at about 11yrs. moved upstairs. Told my folks I was getting married, they sold me the farm and I moved back downstairs. Told the woman they carried me into this house and they will probably carry me out.

Grew up in Monona County, Iowa. Parents retired and moved to Mission, TX. Then I moved to Ft. Stockton. TX. Went to work for the company I am now with, and lived 12 months in a motel room, then transferred back to Mission, TX. Work has taken me to Kalkaska, Michigan (1 year), Alton, Illinois (1 year), San Antonio, TX (1 year) Laredo, TX (3 months, I quit over having to live in the A33hole of the United States) Then Dodge City, KS (one of the two best places I have ever lived, the other being where I live now, near Stephenville, TX, which would be almost perfect if not for all the filthy, dirty, stinking dairies)

born in California moved back and forth between farm in Ca. to ranch in Co several times as a kid,then back to Cal-Poly,then the Army Ft Bliss,Texas and Ft Sill,Ok. then back to the ranch for a few years then to a farm in Dawson Spings,Ky for three and back to the ranch in Meeker, Co.(the past 25 years} Next move will be to se Wy.or the Nebraska panhandle

Born in New Jersey. School in Bethlehem, PA and Ann Arbor MI.

Went to work in Tarrytown, NY. Assigned for 3 years in Hobbs, NM. Later spent a half year in Corpus Christi, TX; half year in Memphis, TN, year in Long Beach, CA. Now back in Morristown, NJ.

I think I liked NM the best.

Born next door to where I live. Moved from there to Memphis, TN. for 12 weeks, Rolla, MO. 2 1/2 years in and out of town. Denver, CO. 6 months back to Rolla, a year and a half. Back to Ash Grove, MO. in Trailer House next door from where I was born in 1971, 1987in new house by trailer, still there. Forgot, out of high school FT. Wood, MO. and FT Riley, KS. My Mom still lives in the house I was born in. I am 64 she is 90

Was born in a small town in central North Carolina.

My Dad was an Industrial Engineer for a major textile company with plants all over the world so we moved a lot when I was growing up.

We moved to Italy when I was 4-1/2 years old. I went to school at the American Overseas School of Rome. A lot of our classmates were kids of movie stars who were living in Italy.This was around the time of the spaghetti westerns so there were a lot of American actors there making movies.One of my classmates was in a film with Robert Vaughan while we were there.That was kind of neat. Dad likes to tell stories of having dinner with various actors who were in town.The punch line was that they were just eating in the same restaraunt and had no idea who Dad was !

Anyway , we got to see lots of wonderful places all over Italy.We even took trips to France , England and Greece.

We lived in Ireland when I was in high school and I went to a school run by Jesuit priests.They were a tough bunch and gave me the kick in the pants I needed ! We travelled all over the country and saw lots of cool stuff. I even had dinner with the Earl of Dunraven . Trouble was that he didn"t realize that he was having dinner with us !

It was hard moving around so much but we got to see so many things that we would have never had a chance to see.

I hope that none of this came accross as bragging or anything like that. I am grateful for the opportunities that Dad gave us and for all of the people I have met over the years.

I went back to Ireland last year on a bus tour with my parents , my Wife and my Son. It was great fun.

We moved around a lot but we always came home to North Carolina.This is my favorite place in the whole world.

Spent all of my time just off the beaten path in IL. Have lived in three houses on two different farms all within a stones throw of one another. Have spent the last 30 years on this same farm. Right above my computer is a picture of my great grandfather and my great great grandfather sitting atop of a high wheel wagon loaded with ear corn right in the middle of my barn lot. I often wonder what they would think if they could see how we farm today. This farm has been home to our family since 1882.

Ed, we're almost neighbors. I've lived all my life around Spencer. I used to buy my IH parts at Hoffman's in Clay City. Used to get the parts up front from Paul Truax and then go back to the shop and ask his brother Bob's advice on how to put them on. Jim.

When I was in the Air Force, I lived in or "visited" (by order of the government) 30 different states and 13 different countries. After 20 years of no real home, I'm now settled in the woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. No more moving till it's time for me to move to the cemetery.

Born ne Kansas and raised on a farm there. Spent the year I was 15 in Colorado on a cattle ranch and then back to Ks. U S Navy took me to Ca and Japan. After the navy I moved to Mich. Went to Turkey to work, then Jamacia. Back to Mi and then to Nigeria. Back to Mi till retirement. Have snowbirded in Fl, La, Tx, N M, AZ and Ca. Wife can't travel anymore so I think I'll stay here in northern Mi.

I started life on a farm in southern calif. Dad bought another farm a mile away, lived there until 64 when the Navy took me places I will never be able to go again, or want too. Chicago for trainingm Tennessee for school. then to San Diego, the Phillippines, Japan, Vietnam,San Francisco. I consider these places I lived because that is where I ate and slept. I've never moved out of the north eastern 1/4 of Ia. Born in Long Grove, moved to Cedar Rapids for 2 years (Kirkwood Community College), then to Eldridge 2 yrs, back to Long Grove for 8yrs, then up north to Cresco for 2 yrs, now I'm back in Eldridge almost a year and hopefully in about 3 months... back to Long Grove. Unfortunately the the move to L.G. might cost me my tractors. We'll see.

Born in Gadsten AL. Moved to MN, then KS, then NE, then TN, then MS, then FL, then CT, then VA. then CT, then SC, then VA. then to where I have been the last 25 years which is MO. My dad was a luthren preacher and college proffer. We would move every 3-6 years. So that took me up to living in MS, From MS till missouri I was in the navy and you know how life is in the Navy. I may have missed a few places in there also. I've been in almost all the states east of the Mississippi and as far west as UT and AZ. I missed going to the northern east states and the most west states.

Well that is where I went to high school. Have you ever heard of Delta State Univercity. My dad was a proffesor there. I spent 4 years at Cleveland High, also thats the socond town I worked in. At one time I was delievering 1500 newpapers every morning in that town. Mephis paper.

Actually I graduated from Delta State University. Go Fighting Okra!!! I was there from 1968-70. What classes did he teach? I majored in Math and Chimestry there.

Shoot you may have had him in a class or 2. He taught phscalogy (sp) We where there some time are then. Not sure what year we moved there but it would have been around 1970 give or take a year. Last name is Marg so does that sound like some one you had??

Don't recall that name but I think I only had one class in phy and it was taught by a german named gutsmacher or something like that. It's been a while though and my memory isn't what it should be.

That name sounds like one of the guys my dad worked with. I could have gone there for free but when I got out of high school I had enough of school for awhile. Then ended up in the Navy because my draft card came up 1A and where did I go in the navy but right back in to school.

Wish I had known your Dad there. I'll look in the yearbook and see if he is in there during the years I was attending. Delta State won three women's national basketball titles a few years after I graduated. I know about the school thing. Seems like I've had to attend classes at my work as much as when I was in school but I'm getting close to retirement now.

Plus from what I know about delta it was more of a teacher college then any thing else and I didn't want to teach., but then on the other hand I guess thats sort of what I do here when I answer peoples questions

Born in s.w.Pa. After marriage, built house on corner of family farm; still there. Thanks to National Science Foundation grants, spent a summer in Norman, OK (OU); a summer in Des Moines (Drake U); Also a summer in the Inland Empire (Southern CA) Loma Linda University Medical Center for Prostate Cancer Cure. Nicest weather I've ever seen was southern California. If I ever leave the farm, I wish to retire in southern Cal!!!

Grew up near New England, ND. Lived in Mooreton, ND for a year while going to college. Lived in Aberdeen, SD for a year in college. Dickinson, ND for 3 years of college. Now in Bullhead City, AZ for 2 years... Who knows where we will go next?

Moved from my folks place to where I am now when I was 18..had 3 different trailers on the place at different times all within about 30 feet of where the previous one was..then built a new home on it about 4 years ago.. built my shop before I built the house,caught a little grief over that move..something about priorities being screwed up :^)

Due to wanderlust and the USAF, I have lived in Ripley WV, Kissimmee FL, Alexandria VA, Tacoma WA, Tucson AZ, Morgantown WV, and now in Fairmont WV. I have travelled to Canada, Mexico, England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands.

You can see I have lived in 3 of the 4 corners of the great ole US. But as for me? I like it here in the Hillbilly. Think I might stay...

Where in NM do you live? I lived in Hobbs for 3 years, working in a natural gas plant. I traveled all over NM and loved it. Land of Enchantment is a perfect name for it. I think it is the best kept secret in the USA. Hope it never gets developed the way so many parts of AZ have. Someday I"d like to retire there.
