Well dummy me took the rear cover off the pump yesterday to replace a leaking seal. A piston/valve ( about 1/2" diameter..the only loose thing in there) flopped out before I had a chance to eyeball its orientation. Looks like two marshmallows on a rod to give you an idea. It has two piston like areas with a chamfered edge, and I need to know if the beveled edge faces the rear or the front of the tractor? I have an ITT book around here but it is playing hide and go seek right now.

I guess I have a 50/50 chance of getting it right without help. Naturally after I get it off, it looks like it never leaked at the top, so NOW I see a hydraulic hose to the right ram leaking that"s the real culprit.

Looks like the platform has to come off to get to the fitting. Brilliant.

So anyway, if one of you has had the end off the pump, and can remember which way it goes..I"d really appreciate it. (or has the manual handy)

Eureka!!!! Just figured it out- you did remove the rear cover. That marshmallow-shaped piece could come out there, via spring pressure on screw D. Spring puts pressure on the three plungers, and the marshmallow, and when you take the rear cover off, one piece flies out. That explains the picture- hole on the backside of the pump with no parts in it. Again, piece like marshmallows has a long and short end beyond the marshmallows. Long end goes to the rear. Now I can go back to MY shop.

Are you sure it was a rear cover? There is a device as you describe, in the area behind Screw D, which is behind a small cover on the front of the pump. The longer part of the rod goes to the rear. The drawbar control mounts on the rear of the pump, but I don't see any marshmallow looking parts in the pix. Behind screw D there are three other identical plungers with a long and short end, and again, the long end goes to the rear on each of them.
