has anyone read any thing about sign up for a ranch nunber.aka bse?? tracking.from what i read was you got ranch number and then you injected your cow/horse/???, with 15 diget number. too be free to sign up till july 06 then 10.00 a year with two year subcribtions. texas idea to track and be able to sell to japan and other countrys.web sight in paper not working,might be misprint,yall heard anything??

No problems...was just trying to point you toward the info as quickly as possible...I am not normally that short on my posts. Not sure where I stand on the issue. When I first saw this on RFD TV at the height of the mad cow scare, it was aimed just at cattle. At the time it seemed like a good idea. But....now I am not sure...they are looking at making this apply to a lot of different animals...right down to our kids goat that gets hauled to FFA shows. I am concerned about the "Big Brother" in this and as time goes on, how will they expand it and who will eventually get the information and as the beauracracy grows, I imagine the cost to us will as well. I guess we will have to see where things go.

BTW I got an email recently that said that this was already enacted in Texas...don't know when the mandatory compliance date would be though...

i asked this question because i was reading in local newspaper,could sign up before july and get two years free then 10.00 a year to keep ranch number.i see cattle theft going down (texas leads nation).will need to keep sales records.will need to send money to beef check off.will help in goverment programs such as drought aid.will put end to claming animels you dont have.there so many pros and coms, i just am going to deal with coms as that come.
