I have a hinomoto tractor also called a southern tractor e-230. It is now draining the battery when it sits for a few days. I was wondering if anyone knew if it has a voltage regulator or is it built into the alt? I looked around and did not see anything but the alt. Can I get the alt, voltage regulator frome my local autoparts or is it a dealer item?It has three wires coming out of it and they go up under the dash and I can not tell where they go from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks; mjm

Thanks for the advice guys. I will try that and see what happens. As for you John curmudgeon I find you to be a rude individual. I am looking for help and you want to be sarcastic. As for your ignorance of Hinomoto tractors, maybe you need to broaden your knowledge because these tractors will be antiques some day just like what ever you have. Have a nice day: MJM

Well I guess I've been told off! Doesn't seem to bother me though. Guess I'm just a rude sarcastic ingnorant individual. Didn't realise that Hinomuto was destined to be such a classic.

take the negitive battery cable off when you park it for a few days and hook it back up when your ready to use the tractor if the battery is low or dead you will have to replace the battery becuase it has a dead cell and is shorting out inside.the battery has lead plates inside that flake ,the flakes drop down in the bottom and short the pos. plate to the neg. plate and this can drain the batt.hope this helps

What the heck is a Hinomoto? And why should a web site purportedly engaged in the discussion of antique tractors be interested in your problem?

When you park it, unplug the alternator and see if the battery drains. If it does, it's teh alternator. If not, it's something else. Get numbers off of it and call NAPA. If they are real expensive, you might want to take it off & have an alternator shop repair it. The internal parts should be pretty standard.
