Old Tractor Beat Me Up

Made some adjustments on the plowing depth of the plow yesterday, which let me run in the sod without taking off that rear set of bottoms.

Trying to outrun some wet weather in the forcast, so rode that screamin' old sow until mama made me stop and come home last night.

Both I and the wallet are pretty much black and blue this morning. I feel like I've been thru an old fashioned fist fight and the old tractor is drinkin' diesel fuel in $100 gulps.

But, I think if I can toughen up and put in one more big day, I'll just about have that darned 54 acres of sod flipped underground.

Gettin' old is downright painful at times. :>(

Just wait till you start bouncing over that rough sod with your tractor and disk, now that will be rough! Bet it will take at least two passes to work it down to.

Yep, ya know, I've never ran a disc over plowed ground in my life, as I've always got away with the packer. But now, I'm really startin' to wonder on this mess.

I think this crap just might need a disc as matted and root infested as it is. Hope to get 'er straightened out by a Sept 10 planting date.

Went out there with good intentions. However, wind was right at 40 knots, 43 degrees and spitin' rain. So, I just left the old darlin' hitched to the fuel barrel for today. :>)

Bob, what is "cross plowing"? I'm not familiar with the term?

The WD was narrow front and he plowed with that until he got the wide front 45. I remember how he had to fight to keep the front wheels out of the furrow when he was plowing in heavy ground with the WD. To him the 45 was like heaven, until the last years he farmed when he brought an Oliver 1750 with a cab and power steering.

Oh well...no point to this...just reminicsing (sp) after seeing that picture.
