First of why did you change the solenoid? If it because you heard it go click-click I would guess you have a connection problem!. I have to check the boy's John Deere for the sam problem. Do you have a voltmeter? Have you check the battery voltage when the problem occurs and then checked the voltage at the starter? HAve you checked the voltage at the starter to start with? How many hours are on the starter? Do you have anyone close by that works on heavy equipment starters?Sounds to me you need to make some fundamental tests first! Have you had the starter off and looked inside? Just asking.

I have not checked the battery voltage yet. I think one battery is new and one is a few years old. I actually think one may be getting bad. All the cables are brand new and are very heavy duty all the way to the starter. The connections are all perfect. It is all new stuff except the starter itself. I changed the solenoid because it was ruined inside. The wires were broken off the contacts. It now has a nice new one. The only thing I have not done is physically pull the starter itself. I don't know the history of the starter. It could very well be original and it has about 4600 hours on the tractor. I am quite sure it will be bad, I was just wondering where to get a good one and about how much they cost? Thanks.
