Is anyone familiar with wagon running gear made by "Electric Wheel Company"? I see there's one for sale on the photo ads that I'm interested in. I've never heard of this company, anyone have any historical facts/history on them? What year(s) were they made?
Thanks
DJL

I have an Electric Wheel Co. trailer I am trying to restore serial #550-j-83530 and I need 1 wheel. The others are 16" and have Gulf 6.00x16 tires. can anyone help? Also I am tring to find out what the correct colors were. It Apears to have a red frame and green wheels.
Please E-mail me with any leads or parts for sale.

I've got one, 5 lug, 15" tires. Front end is toast, so it wont track on the road but seems to be built ok for a lighter duty wagon. Definitely better than ,ost of the other light duty ones I've had. No comparison to a HD JD, Bradford, or Corey though.

Marlowe is right, city was Quincy IL same town as in Quincy Compresser. Firestown owned EWC and closed it down,it is owned by Titan Wheel now. They claim to be the largest wheel plant in North America.

Titan Wheel in Quincy is about the ONLY ag wheel/rim maker left. Motor Wheel used to make a few, and French & Hecht from Davenport & Walcott, IA. used to be big but only makes small implement wheels now I think as part of Titan in Walcott. Only other large rim rolling line I know of was at Steiger Tractor in Fargo, ND. Every other ag wheel/rim manufacturer buys the rims & centers from TITAN. Back on topic, Dad bought an OLIVER wagon in about 1967 that was all made by EWC, galvanized barge box of VERY LARGE dimensions, 150 bu. cap. without sideboards. EWC made MANY different capacity running gears. Dad's had 6-bolt 15" wheels and was rated 8 ton. Neighbor had the same wagon box on a JD gear and after He saw Dad's EWC/Oliver He was really sorry He bought the wrong shade of green paint! EWC's normal color was red but the Oliver box & gear was painted Oliver green. It looked really sharp with two feet of side boards painted IHC 2150 red and picked ear corn heaped up another foot above them! I remember hauling shelled corn with that wagon one summer, without sideboards and the scale tickets for just the loaded wagon were all just over 10,000#. Sure glad We never weighted a BIG load of ear corn!

This may be a little late for an answer, but I was too looking for an EWC part and found a company that has them - Reliable Tool. Here is a link to their cross reference chart:
