I want to build a small electric wood splitter for the porch, (got a big one out back) so if anyone has experience with, or plans for an electric I"d appreciate any input.

I had everything except a control valve and saw this thing in a garage sale with a sign, "switch" $ 3.00". It looked enough like some kind of control valve and for 3 bucks, it"s heavy enough to bring that for junk if it doesn"t work.
It came from a discontinued farming sale (new owners), has a 1949 patent date, from the color would appear to be Allis Chalmers or Case and from the new hoses appears to have been used recently.
Can anybody identify it? It appears that it might be a variable speed reverser. The lever moves smoothly both ways with no centering detent. It has 2 outlets on the bottom marked cyl, a top port marked X and O and bottom one marked 14 and BV, that I assume are from pump and to reserve tank. which is what I don"t know.
Any Clues??
Smiley I"m hoping when I hit post, it will allow me to attach photos. If there aren"t any, clue me how to do it and I"ll try again

Try asking around lawnmower repair places. I once had an old Wheel Horse with hydraulics that are probably just what you need.

Hope this helps you. To me looks like a bi-directional flow control valve

First thought was a variable speed control used with a hydraulic motor (not a reverser). Second thought was part of a header height control valve for a floating bean bar. Pix would be great.

To post a picture you need to first up-load your photo to a hosting site, either to YT or something like photo-bucket, then you just drag the url into the optional image box.
