first of all yes i want to sell my tractor i love this wsite but when i place a tractor on here for sale i get people call from all around and tell them about it and they will say im pretty intrested in it. I will call you later tonight or later in the week to come look at it and you never hear from them again. Does anyone else think about it this way or is it just me

I've not sold anything on here. I've bought a couple of things. I've checked with sellers on things several times and most times have gotten a reply-KEY WORD-MOST TIMES.Then there's been times when promised pictures never came or call was never made. What I'm say'n is it ain't just one or the other, we all tend to do things that upset SOMEBODY. Lighten up. 'Tain't a big thang.

That is why I use the ads here usually by the 3rd call or email it is sold .no problems .

I get annoyed at people sometimes doing that. I try not to, at least not too much as it is part of doing business. There are times I go on a car lot and just browse, same with a store. I try to look at it the same way when I"ve got something to sell, just figure they found a better deal elsewhere.

Yeah, I've been there too. Had a plow for sale locally, and had a guy phone saying he'll stop buy the next day to look at it. No show. If someone else would have come along and would have offered to buy it, it would've been out of here. As a seller, I don't think you have to wait on your potential buyers. The person who shows up with money in hand is the one who gets first consideration. The only exception I would make is if someone said "I'll show up at such-and-such a time to look at it to make sure I want to buy it, but am confident that I will." I'll hold an item until the designated time for them to look at, but if they're not there at the right time, well tough, I'm not waiting on you as a potential buyer. I think that's all you can do.

Then you have the "busy body" people that but into the conversations!! I was on another site working on a deal to sell an IH engine with 30K actual miles on it,,I had posted on the classic truck site here that I "thought" it had 12K on it before I VERIFIED it by looking at the odometer again.(I got this one confuzed with the 549 I put in my dozer)There is a certain person who also frequents both boards that warned the potential buyer to "BEWARE" and the deal has fallen through!!I was selling the 392 IH to the lady for $300,, just about HALF of what it was worth just to help her out because the people she bought the truck from had scr**d her with a junk engine!!

thats called dealing with the public. You don't wait on anyone. they come to my shop,we go from there but if I have to leave I do. That simple. If they don't schedule time they be at my shop I don't wait on them. Just forget it and go on. Always cash or cashiers checks Period on most small stuff. the high dollar items have to have letter from bank or lending agency gauranteeing funds. Anything with much value won't sell on this site has been nmy experience. I don't use it anymore to sell much. The auction site has really dried up even for thr nick nack stuff. Good luck

write a very descriptive ad and PUT YOUR PRICE IN IT. The people that think you are asking too much won't bother you.

Good words. Set a price and don't ask the buyer to set the price. I won't buy from someone who wants me to sell his item to myself.

Not putting a price on items guarentees lots of tire kickers who will "waste" your time, but then they think you wasted their time by not being up front about about what you want.

Sale is made to who ever has cash in hand,is way I do business.If someone wants something they pay my price if I want something I pay the price.Do not wait for anyone to show up could lose sale.

It works both ways too. I once made an appointment to look at a tractor in Kansas. I drove 700 miles and no one was around when I got there. I wasted a weekend and the expenses of the trip for a dead beat seller.

Yep [people cal and write a lot of e-mail but in the end thay waste your time and don't buy or worse you box it up and get the shipping price then you never see a dime. Tells you how people are now days. a penny honest and a dime crook

Guess what?? You ain't the only one to be stroked...I've run in to this phenonom many times..I've gotten to the point that if you want the article bad enough you can phone tag me.. I have voice mail and answering machine..I won't spend another afternoon waiting for some loser to show up just to offer a crazy low price..If they are genuine they will persue you..I set a price , I stick to it , within reason..Better luck in the future..

Amen to that. I won't waste my time waiting for someone to show up. I tell them when I'll be home, if they can make it at those hours-fine. If they can't come out when I'm home-then too bad. I won't rearrange my schedule for someone who has a 50% chance of not showing up anyway.

Billy sue, it sounds like to me you must do that alot too, you got awfully defensive there. I too hate people who do that. I really dont care about the ones that say they will call you back, it's the ones that say they'll come out and you wait for them and.... no show! That bothers me. If I say I am coming to look at something I do and if I cant I will call. It is just common curtesy, something that few have these days. Time is too important to waste on deadbeat buyers. Remember the golden rule!

Dont price depend on if you are buying or selling?? My experiance has been if I am selling something I put a higher price on it so I have room to deal. However,when I quote the price they just walk away. They dont haggle.
