its got a continental red seal that really purrs and the machine only has 5oo hrs.it will weld a 1/8 rod but the rheostat has to be WFO.it has a vacum operated idle system that dosent work so the engine run high all the time.this is one of the last machines they built and would like to know if anybody has one or knows of a source of info.sorry about the post i know its not a tractor

Asume you know Harnisetc became P&H, and you've already checked them for any records (phmining.com) on your unit...and assume you know Cont used a little different engine numbers for the same engine when used in trucks or industrial vehicles or power units...when you ID your unit good places to start, if looking for info/parts, are the welding and generator forums on this and other Ag sites, as well as vintage truck sites if your engine used in trucks (engines on welders often also used on generators)...good luck

Same engine that was on countless numbers of Lincoln welders and there are still an awful low of welders still using them today. Lots of parts available for those engines, and you probably know they were on a lot of ag stuff too back in the 40's and 50's and into the 60's.

There should be something on the net about the welder. Sounds like you didn't do too bad on the price. I have bought several vehicles from the Navy, and the marines. I haven't been to a auction in a long time. We have a shed full of crap, from the same auctions, maybe thay is why I stay away now. Stan
