It seams like there is never enough time in the day. I am always working on something. I haven't had my old Indain motorcycle out for a ride in months. Maybe I am trying to do too much my self, partly because I don't trust anybody else. I have my mowing and discing season right around the corner, and still have work to do on my machines. My night shift job doesn't help either. Does anybody else have this problem? Stan

"Does anybody else have this problem?" Yes. (If you could see me my hand is raised and I've got that "pick me" look on my face.) I'm the maintenance manager at a Christian campground and I face the same thing. I'm doing the work of a full-time and another part-time position with only 29 hours a week. Sometimes I feel downright overwhelmed with my to-do lists. Some things that come along I think: "No, that isn't going to get done, I don't have time." Not a good feeling for someone like me. Now the grass is growing again and I'll have to mow it. I like mowing...but there isn't time enough in my day. So yes, there are people like you. We all have different experiences, but there's a lot of us in this boat and no one has any time to spend sitting in a boat.

Line from a old magazine beer commercial years ago; "GRAB FOR ALL THE GUSTO YOU CAN; YOU ONLY GO AROUND ONCE!"

Somewhere between the absolute "musts" of every day on one hand and the things, places, people we enjoy on the other, we must take care of OURSELVES. To me that means finding the deep satisfaction from whatever makes every day meaningful and productive.

A little OT but also remember wisdom from a old buddy back in Okla about the farmer/rancher who insisted on having every door on every shed, outbuilding closed and secure every night. Reason: "I want to sleep well when the wind blows!"
Can't do much better than that. End of rant. PC

Learn to be worthless It can save your life

I'm a crowning example of what hurry and high blood pressure can do...won't go into details, but a couple of you guys (you know who you are) have got to lower yours and take it easy. Enjoy life, Kennyp

Heck I dunno, Stan,

I found out a few years ago, that if you just quit worryin about things, slow down and stop trying to get it all done "right now", things just seem to go better. Take 'er one day at a time and just take it as it comes.

Guess it depends on your constitution, but this "oh, hum" attitude has really changed my way of approachin' things.

I'm getting more done now than I ever did back when I was chasin' my tail trying to farm in three different countys at the same time.

Allan

Yup, know that feeling... Today I went to see my girlfreind sing in her concert choir at Lakeland U, instead of working on getting the tillage equipment ready. I managed to install a new 10" cylinder on our spring tooth in place of the 8" we were using, as it just didn't lift it high enough to lock for transport, and for storage. On Easter Sunday my brothers and dad are planning 9 holes of golf, followed by dinner at 4. If the weather is nice, I might be able to get the duals on both tractors (one for hauling poo, the other is for the heavy tillage), get mom's garden tilled up (fix the tiller so I can do item #2), help my dad clean 80 bu. of oats that he sold, (plus enough for ourselves), and if all goes right we might be able to get some peas & tritical in the ground for early forage. Has to stay dry for that last one though, so we'll see how it goes....

I'm axious to get my 1600 on the drill and corn planter after being out of commision for so long. Of course as long as my tractor is on the planters, I'll have lots of seat time this year. May have to let my dad plant a couple acres of corn with it, and somehow figure out a way to let my mom drive it without getting into too much trouble as it was hers before I grew up to restore it... She always used to haul wagons with it back when her dad still ran the farm.

Donovan from Wisconsin

Did I mention I also go to school Mon-Thu (6:15 AM) and work 35 hours a week off the farm?

You mean there's more to life than just work? I have that old problem of when I have the time I don't have the money and when I have the money I don't have the time. Just when I think I'm starting to get caught up on everything I have to do around here something happens like it did today. I went to spray under and around the house to take care of the summer insect problem before it starts. When I opened the door to the crawlspace I heard water dripping. Furthwer investigation revealed a valve in a copper line that had developed a pin hole. I was supposed to be doing a paying job tomorrow night, now it looks like I'll have to pay for the parts and do work on my own stuff..... ..... .IT'S A NEVER ENDING CYCLE..... ..... .Like they say life's a bit-- and then you die..... .

Chief, take next Sundeay afternoon off, make it like it is something you HAVE to do, and schedule it now so you won't have anything to do then, and take your baby out for a spin. You have no idea how it puts a new perspective on the rest of the stuff. I found out a long time ago, if I work on Sunday, I just spend all day Monday fixing stuff that broke anyway. Took my babys, momma and the FLH out yesterday for a couple of hours and just feel renewed today. works wonders. When you get too busy to ride, you're tooooo busy. Harley
