Electrolux and MTD are NOT the same corporation or such. Both are international Companies and are in fact competitors along with a small handful of others still left. There have been dozens of mergers and absorbtions/takeovers in past few yrs.Names like Murray,Roper,AMF,Dynamark,Bolens,Troy,Yardman,Wheeler,LawnBoy,Gilson,Cub Cadet etc have gone under and been absorbed by bigger companies. Some names have returned under their new management but old stock may/may not be supported.I try to follow this as I work on a lot of older stuff and max mfg support nowdays seems to be about 5-7 yrs.Outfits like Ordertree,Outdoor Pwr,Hans etc keep up with the changes and"make their name" by being able to hook you up w/parts regardless of who currently owns the name/contract.Box stores like Sears,TSC,etc bid their stock needs to the builders so a Sears "Craftsman" or a Western Auto "Wizard" have, could be and might be "Anything".Current Sears L&G is mostly AYP(American Yard Products)part of the Electrolux Corp, however their snowblowers were MTD and Murray depending on model a couple seasons back at least.TSCs Huskee's used to be Murrays, now they are MTDs with Murray down and in recievership to Briggs. You have to learn to recognize certain propriatory ways the "Big Few" do things, the you can just think"It ain't a WhizBang,it's just a AYP in a Whizbang suit" :)
