Hello

I'm new to the group. And I'm not mechanically gifted but I try.

I have a Cub Cadet 2160 w/16 HP Vanguard, now that when the electric PTO is engaged, it stalls the engine. The PTO pulley dose not spin easily by hand either. (did not try to before i had trouble, so not sure it should)

I cut 2+ acres all last summer w/no problem, except near the end of the season when this PTO issue came up.

Are there bearings that can be replaced?

If the whole assembly needs replaced, where do I start?

Any Help would be Greatly Appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

I also have a '96 2160.I had the PTO replaced after the 2nd year! they don't recall garden tractors but their PTO's were bad? Check to see if the mounting bracket is bent connecting to the engine block.I've also had the electric switch go bad under the dash. The switch is much cheaper, with luck, that's the problem.

Pull the spark plug wires then reach under the mower and see if you can spin the blades.

If not you may have a bearing locked up on the mower itself.

And you might put a post on the "graden tractor" forum and they can help more than I.
